The trailer for Bad Candy, the horror next up on the roster for binge-content this Halloween season, has revealed a first look at the film's anthology. Grown-up Gremlins actor Zach Galligan plays Paul, a radio DJ who works alongside DJ Chilly Billy, played by Slipknot's Corey Taylor. Bad Candy is set on Halloween night in a town called New Salem. The two radio hosts gear up for a night of scary storytelling, inevitably leading to an evening full of real-life twists and turns throughout their town. Directed by Scott B. Hansen and Desiree Connell, Bad Candy is set for release for video on demand on September 10 and Blu-Ray on October 12.
DREAD, the horror distribution arm for parent company Epic Pictures, revealed a first look at Bad Candy's spooky joyride through a twisted anthology of local urban legends. As DJ Chilly Billy narrates throughout the trailer, a series of different characters and scenes showcase the film's selection of spooky storylines. There is a lot going on in the trailer, particularly a sense that some homage will be paid to early 2000s slasher films that mix fun with fright. At first look, it's clear this isn't the kind of horror movie that will take itself too seriously.

Though it isn't quite clear when the film takes place, the omnipresence of a local radio show feels antiquated in and of itself. The DJs are also smoking cigarettes in the studio which, while a small detail, could also speak to the film's setting. Some older Millennials and younger Gen X-ers will be excited to see Galligan again, who has also been talking about a Gremlins 3 sequel. After a grueling year and some change, Bad Candy may just be the fun, lowbrow horror movie viewers need.
