A large part of The Bachelorette Katie Thurston's attraction to fiancé Blake Moynes is their love and passion for saving wildlife. Katie sure is lucky Blake decided to join the show halfway through her season. After Blake decided to compete for her heart after witnessing her in Matt James' season of The Bachelor, he thought he'd give her season a try. While the relationship was a bit awkward at first, the two quickly fell for each other, with Blake becoming a frontrunner along with Greg Grippo.
Even Greg himself noticed the bond Katie and Blake shared after they came back from his hometown date. After noticing how in love they seemed, Greg became self-destructive in his relationship with Katie. Once the couple returned from the hometown date, and Greg wanted to be open and honest about his feelings, he did not receive the validation from Katie he was hoping to get. He left the competition, which left Katie feeling positive with her decision to choose Blake as her future husband.
On Saturday, Katie shared on her Instagram page a photo of herself feeding a giraffe alongside a caption that explained how she and Blake bonded over their love of wildlife. The 30-year-old began her caption by revealing how she's always wanted to be a veterinarian. She continued, "I was accepted into WSU but chose to start with community college first after graduating from high school." However, life got in the way, and Katie, who might not want children, began working in the financial industry, which she had a career in for over a decade. "Today, I am now engaged to a man who shares the same passion for animals and together, we can really make an impact," she added.
Now she and Blake are "excited for the upcoming projects [they] have planned and can’t wait to share with you all!" Blake, who is based in Hamilton, Ontario, works as a wildlife manager in the city, partnering with nonprofit organizations such as Soldiers For Wildlife. The foundation works with a "group of conservationists from around the globe" to help "make the world a better place for wildlife and the indigenous people of Africa." From looking at Blake's Instagram page, he is clearly passionate about saving all types of animals, especially elephants. Blake, who once vied for Tayshia and Clare's hearts on The Bachelorette, recently re-shared a post about world-renowned animal activist Dr. Jane Goodall regarding her collaboration with the Save The Elephants Foundation.
Katie and Blake were meant to be from the start. The Bachelorette couple not only have similar personality types, but they also share a love for animals and wildlife. It seems Katie and Blake were a match made in Bachelor Nation heaven.
