Healers play an important role in MMO combat as they keep their allies alive with spells. Crowfall’s healer class, the Cleric, has a myriad of useful powers to restore health to allies and debilitate enemies. This guide will examine what races make for the best cleric, as well as what weapon builds complement the class.

When creating a Crowfall character, there are a total of 12 fantasy races to choose from. Each has their own unique passives and abilities to enhance their performance, as well as their own classes to choose from. For example, the only races that can select the Cleric class are Centaurs, Elken, Guinecean, Half-Giant, Human, and Stoneborn. So this begs the question: which race is the most optimal pick for a cleric build? All combinations have their own utility, but some perform better than others. Also, there are three distinct promotion classes for the Cleric to choose from; Crusader, Radical, and Arbiter. Here’s a look at which race has the best synergy with each of the Cleric’s promotion classes.

Crusader/Stoneborn

  • Of the three promotions, the Crusader focuses the most on healing by raising the user’s critical healing chance and boosting the health of resurrected allies. The bulkiness of the Stoneborn race complements this supportive role well as their endurance will let them live long enough to revive their allies and keep them healthy. Thanks to their abilities, they are immune to poison, knocked down for less time, have a high chance to nullify bleed effects, and receive reduced damage overall, letting them heal allies unopposed.

Radical/Centaur

  • The Radical deviates away from healing and prioritizes attack power by lowering the cost needed to use its ultimate and increasing its attack range. Centaurs are a solid pick for this promotion because of their high constitution and strength cap, letting them make the most of the Radical’s offensive power. Further, the Centaur’s Legion’s Strength power boosts the attack power of nearby allies, providing them with another support role on top of what the Cleric already provides.

Arbiter/Half-Giant

  • Lastly, the Arbiter promotion is the balance of offense and support. Inflicting status conditions like stun will increase their base damage and restore mana, while the area of effect of some of their skills is also improved. This makes the Half-Giant class a good fit because their unique Backhand attack can inflict stun on opponents. Additionally, their Brawny passive increases their critical damage, further improving their damage output.

Once players have picked their race, they'll need to obtain a weapon that compliments their build. Much like how certain races can only play as certain classes, certain classes can only wield certain weapons. Clerics, in particular, can equip hammers, bucklers, and medium-sized shields. Players in Crowfall have a lot of control over the creation of their weapons, from the head of the hammer down to the pommel, and can spec into different bonuses on each. For instance, when crafting the hammer’s head, weaponsmiths can choose to increase its damage, critical healing chance, or support power. Much like with the races, the best build option varies depending on what promotion class the player wishes to pursue. The Crusader’s weapon components should prioritize critical healing chance, the Radicals should focus purely on damage output, and the Arbiter can go either way depending on the player’s preference for offense or defense. Overall though, if Clerics want to capitalize on their healing prowess, they ought to craft and buy hammers that lean into support.
