The season 2 poster for Outer Banks has been unveiled and the fight between the Kooks and Pogues has stripped the coastal town of all peaceful vacation charm. The action-adventure premiered on Netflix last April, eventually managing to clinch the number one spot on the streaming platform. The series was renewed for a second season in July and is set to premiere later this month on July 30. Outer Banks follows a group of lower-class teenagers living in a town on the coast of North Carolina. The group, led by John B (Chase Stokes), set out to find the ringleader’s father after child protective services attempts to place him in a foster home.
The self-referred Pogues constantly clash with the vacationing Kooks, who are wealthier residents that visit the island seasonally. The stakes are raised even higher when elements of hidden treasure and murder come to light. Outer Banks season 1 left fans on a major cliffhanger, watching John B and Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) get rescued by a cargo ship on its way to Nassau, though everyone else on the island presumes they are dead. Now, it looks like viewers are going to get some answers about where the couple ended up after all.
Outer Banks just released the poster for season 2, and if viewers thought the first season was chaotic, nothing can be done to prepare for watching John B take his gold hunt out of North Carolina and into the Bahamas. The poster emulates the sharp divide that now exists between the close-knit group of friends, depicting John B and Sarah as teen fugitives on the run in another country, while the others are at home hunting for hidden treasure. The poster also does its best to prepare viewers for just how much craziness they should expect in the upcoming season, balancing moments of teenage romance with fiery explosions.

Though Outer Banks seemingly began as another teen drama, focusing on class divides between the wealthier seasonal residents and working-class locals, the first season quickly turned into a mystery of legendary treasure and missing people. The show managed to maintain themes of teenage disenfranchisement and angst while creating a plot centered around stolen gold, murder, and blackmail. Though some viewers feel that the more unexpected parts of the plot got lost in confusion, Outer Banks has more than proven its ability to be wholly entertaining if nothing else.
With the original cast returning, including Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Charles Esten, Austin North, and Drew Starkey, Outer Banks will hopefully be able to offer more teenage romance and character development from wealthy villain to helpful ally. Also joining the cast is Elizabeth Mitchell and Carlacia Grant in recurring roles. Outer Banks begins streaming on Netflix July 30.
