Jungle Cruise 2 Is Being Discussed At Disney | Screen Rant

Even though Disney's Jungle Cruise film hasn't been released yet, star Dwayne Johnson is already eyeing a sequel. There is a lot of hype for the upcoming film, inspired by one of Disney's first-ever attractions, starring the powerful, yet unexpected, duo of Johnson and Emily Blunt. Like many films, including Blunt's A Quiet Place Part IIJungle Cruise faced production delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, Disney plans to finally release the family-fun adventure film in theaters and on Disney+ July 30.

Jungle Cruise centers around Johnson's character Frank, a riverboat captain, and Blunt's character Dr. Lily Houghton, a British scientist. The two go on an adventure of a lifetime, in search of the legendary Tree of Life. Houghton is determined to use the tree's powers to advance modern medicine, Frank is just along for the wild ride. The film also stars Jack Whitehall as Houghton's brother McGregor, who is aboard the oftentimes dangerous journey.

Disney has been releasing trailers, behind-the-scenes videos, and a bevy of other marketing materials to excite viewers about the long-awaited film's release. And in a recent story with THR, Johnson believes so much in the project, he's already ready for a part two. Johnson began by discussing bringing Blunt into his circle of regular collaborators, commenting that he's been in discussion of a Jungle Cruise sequel. Johnson already has pegged Blunt to star in an unannounced film he's producing, clearly demonstrating that their chemistry continues even off-screen between the Hollywood giants. Johnson said of Blunt the following:

"Not only is she a huge movie star but, more importantly, really the most empathetic human being I've ever met."

Johnson and Blunt's chemistry has been a selling point for Disney to promote Jungle Cruise. The pair have cute nicknames for each other and have an almost sibling-like back and forth banter. Disney even released two interconnected trailers, one from Frank and Lily Houghton's point of view, to demonstrate their magnetic dynamic.

Jungle Cruise also stars Édgar Ramírez, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti alongside Johnson and Blunt. However, it's clear already that the duo will be the fan-favorites for moviegoers. Blunt's character takes on an Indian Jones-like attitude, dripping in fearlessness and bravery. Meanwhile, Johnson's character is rooted in skepticism, and he seems more set in his routine. Jungle Cruise is already receiving comparisons to films like The Mummy franchise as well as fellow attraction-turned-film Pirates of the Caribbean. And it's obvious Disney is banking on it being a major success, particularly if Johnson is already teasing the idea of a Jungle Cruise 2
