Invincible: 10 Best Relationships From The Show | ScreenRant

Amazon's Invincible is a great superhero show that is an action-packed adventure as well as surprisingly violent. But while the genre action is the most eye-catching aspect of the show, the story is a more interesting look at the relationships in the middle of all the superhero antics.

From the dynamics of a family that has superhero members to the struggles of teen romance to the teammates of a superhero squad, the show takes time to explore these relationships. In some cases, things end in heartbreaking and brutal ways, but there are a few relationships in Invincible that are genuinely charming.

10 Mark And Nolan

The most important relationship at the center of the series is the one between Mark and Nolan, a superhero father and son. It begins as a sweet relationship with Nolan teaching Mark how to use his newfound superpowers the way a father might teach his son how to drive.

However, the show takes a very dark turn with this relationship. Nolan reveals he is on Earth to conquer it and claims to be willing to kill Mark to accomplish this mission. While that might seem like a terrible relationship, it is Nolan's love for his son that ends up saving humanity in the end. At least, for now.

9 Amber And Mark

Every teen superhero story deals with the hero struggling to balance teenage life with saving the world. This also means the hero needs to have a romance that further complicates their crime-fighting duties.

It is easy to see how Mark and Amber's relationship might annoy viewers as she is always getting angry at him for being late while he is off saving the world. But she also represents a bright spot in Mark's complicated life and someone who keeps him grounded which he sorely needs.

8 Cecil And Donald

The relationship between Cecil and Donald might not seem like much but sort of sneaks up on the viewer in a touching way. Cecil is one of the smartest characters on the show and all business. Donald is his meek assistant who mostly gets bossed around.

Donald shows his courageous side sacrificing himself in an attempt to stop Omni Man. With his last words, he says, "It's been an honor, sir." As Cecil watches, he whispers to himself, "The honor was all mine," showing these two did really care about each other.

7 Mark And Allen The Alien

Mark and Allen the Alien first meet as enemies, battling each other in space. However, it is then revealed Allen is there to train the planet's protector and went to the wrong planet by accident.

Allen quickly turns from a supposed villain to one of the most likable characters on the show. He and Mark strike up a quick friendship that continues when Allen returns to Earth. They share their own struggles and offer support for each other. But mostly, they both seem to like talking to each other.

6 Mark And Debbie

With all the drama that goes on between Mark and his father, it can be easy to overlook Mark's relationship with his mother. Debbie is the only one in the family without any superpowers but is the strongest of them in many ways.

While Nolan keeps pushing Mark, Debbie is a more comforting and encouraging presence in his life. She treats him like the son she loves and not a superhero who needs to save the world. With everything Mark has to deal with, it is good for him to have someone who is looking out for him.

5 Robot And Monster Girl

When the Guardians of the Globe are all murdered, the young group of heroes known as the Teen Team is called in to fill the role. Two of the team's most powerful members, Robot and Monster Girl. However, they both carry a heavy burden with their powers.

Monster Girl can transform into a powerful monster, but each time she does, it makes her younger. Robot is actually a very ill human on life support living through this robot body. These two dysfunctional heroes develop a kinship through their struggles that no one else can understand.

4 Mark And William

Even before Mark develops superpowers, William is a loyal and supportive friend to him. And in one of the show's most realistic aspects, William immediately figures out Mark is Invincible which thrills him.

William gets to have fun with having a superhero as a best friend, including having Mark fly him around. Mark also gets to relieve the burden of his secret identity a little and confide in someone other than his parents. And even with superpowers involved, Mark and William still act like normal high school friends, helping each other with their respective romantic lives.

3 William And Rick

William makes for a comedic relief character in the show. But the sixth episode of the first season allows him to step into the spotlight with his relationship with Rick.

William and Rick shared a romantic evening together previously and reunite at Rick's college campus. Rick is then kidnapped and turned into a killer cyborg by an evil scientist. When William sees this, he reminds Rick of their time together and how important it was for William. It was obviously important for Rick as the memory allows him to regain some of his humanity. It makes their love story a touching yet tragic one.

2 Steve And Matt

Fans might not immediately remember these characters, but while their screen time was limited, their relationship was touching. Steve is introduced in the first scene as a White House security guard talking about his step-son Matt.

Steve admits that their relationship was troubled in the past, but goes on to describe how proud he is and how he truly considers Matt his son. In the second episode, Matt saves Steve after calling him "dad" for the first time. Though these moments are small, they offer a powerful juxtaposition to the relationship of Mark and his father.

1 Eve And Mark

Atom Eve is another teen superhero who also happens to go to the same high school as Mark. They quickly strike up a bond as superheroes and as peers. They fight side-by-side together and are there for each other during their respective romance issues.

It seemed at first that these two would be a romantic pair and that is certainly a possibility for the future. But for now, it is refreshing that the show has simply made them friends who can count on each other to be there whenever they are needed.
