Harry Potter: The Golden Trio's Worst Fights, Ranked | ScreenRant

Harry, Ron, and Hermione from Harry Potter might be tasked with dealing with Death Eaters and stopping Lord Voldemort, but they are also just teenagers dealing with schoolwork, friendship, and dating. Despite their loyalty to one another, they are often seen facing traumatic events that are also combined with teenage hormones and emotions. Because of this, they end up getting in some rather serious fights with one another over their years at Hogwarts.

Whether it’s their dislike of each other during their first year or Ron and Hermione’s bickering, these are some of their worst spats. Luckily, in the end, they always work things out and remain friends despite these conflicts.

9 Bickering Over Homework

Hermione is often trying to get Ron and Harry to finish their homework in a timely fashion, and Ron and Harry rarely listen. This often led to situations where Ron especially wanted Hermione to do the work for him, and this could lead to some small fighting between all three of them.

Harry and Ron didn’t want Hermione to make their lives difficult while Hermione didn’t want to be manipulated into doing work that wasn’t hers to do. However, these little arguments don't usually amount to anything major.

8 Hermione Being Upset About The Half-Blood Prince Book

When Harry selects the Half-Blood Prince’s copy of Advanced Potion Making, it is a bit of a blessing and a curse. At first, the book helps him succeed in potions in a way he never did before, but the book turns out to hold dark secrets.

Hermione is rather upset about Harry beating her at potions, but some of her misgivings about the book are correct. Harry and Hermione don’t see eye to eye on this issue, but it doesn’t really hurt their friendship.

7 The Fight Before The Troll In The Bathroom

While this fight might happen before these three become friends, it’s one of their most iconic arguments. It all begins when Hermione corrects Ron and shows him up with Wingardium Leviosa, and this leads to Ron talking about how she doesn’t have any friends.

Neither Hermione nor Ron are great at social situations at this point, and they both hurt one another’s feelings. However, as upsetting as it was at the time, in the end, it all worked out for the best. Hermione was saved from the troll, and a friendship between these three was forged.

6 Harry Being Stuck In The Middle As Ron Dates Lavender

Hermione and Ron have a crush on one another long before either one fully realizes it, and this leads to a lot of jealousy between them. When Ron starts dating Lavender, Hermione is deeply upset. This puts a rift in their relationship which leaves Harry in the middle of it all.

It’s definitely a case of teenage jealousy and love gone awry and the fact that Ron and Hermione don’t know how to communicate very well. In some ways, it’s just one of many reasons why Harry and Hermione wouldn't make a lot of sense as a couple.

5 Harry Lashing Out At Ron And Hermione At Grimmauld Place

Harry deals with so many traumatic events, and he rarely gets the support he really needs. So, it’s no wonder he ends up lashing out at people around him especially after he witnesses Cedric’s death.

When he learns that Ron and Hermione have been together during the summer but haven’t been sending him any information, it's one of the saddest moments in the series as Harry is upset. However, it wasn’t right to lash out at them as they were just doing their best to follow Dumbledore's orders.

4 Ron Ditching Harry During The Triwizard Tournament

While Ron and Harry are usually best friends that are there for one another, Ron struggles with feelings of inferiority and jealousy when it comes to Harry. He always feels second best, and this comes to a head when Harry is chosen as Hogwarts champion. Harry, for his part, is deeply hurt that Ron doesn’t believe him especially because it’s a dangerous situation for Harry to be put in.

This is one of the moments where Harry and Ron aren't considered friends, and it also impacts Hermione as she’s caught between them and frustrated at their lack of emotional intelligence. It’s one of Ron’s worst decisions in the series, and luckily, Harry forgives him rather quickly when he comes around again.

3 Ron And Hermione’s Fight Over Scabbers And Crookshanks

Ron and Hermione spend most of the series bickering to some level. They often snap at one another and find the other annoying, but they say don’t seem to mind these little disagreements too much. However, the fights over their pets nearly end their friendship.

Ron blames Crookshanks for Scabbers declining health, and Hermione doesn’t always take things as seriously as she should. They both get a little too intense about it all, and they end up not speaking to each other for weeks as Harry tries to get them to put on make-up.

2 Harry And Ron Not Talking To Hermione Over The Firebolt

Overall, Hermione is the more responsible one who tries to follow the rules unless she feels she needs to break them. She’s also more concerned about safety and less reckless than the others too. Because of this, she hands the Firebolt over to Professor McGonagall in an attempt to protect Harry.

However, Ron and Harry choose a broomstick over their friend and are extremely mad at her. Fans couldn't help but feel sorry for Hermione as it was an immature reaction, but given that they were all only 13 at the time, it makes sense they couldn’t regulate their emotions completely.

1 Ron Leaving Harry And Hermione Behind

The most devastating fight between these three friends happens in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Ron leaves the other two behind. While he's being influenced by the locket Horcrux, it is amplifying how he truly feels.

This decision devastates both Harry and Hermione, and they aren't the same with Ron gone. It's one of the most emotionally dramatic moments in the series, and fans were relieved when Ron made his way back to them and everything turned out all right.
