Genshin Impact: How to Find (& Beat) Fatui Cryo Cicin Mage

Genshin Impact players will often find themselves encountering Elite Enemies in Domains, the Spiral Abyss, or out in the open while exploring Teyvat. These enemies respawn every day, and often drop ascension materials that many characters need to level up. These enemies are stronger and rarer than Common Enemies, so finding specific ones can be tricky without knowing where to look. The Cryo Cicin Mage is no exception.

The Cryo Fatui Cicin Mage is a Fatui Elite Enemy that harnesses the power of Cryo to attack its enemies. Much like many other Cryo enemy variants, The Fatui Cryo Cicin Mage is exclusive to the Dragonspine region. The Cicin Mage wanders around alone, so players don’t have to worry about fighting off a mob of enemies all at once.

The Cryo Cicin Mage’s attacks are all focused on dealing Cryo damage. At the start of the battle, it will summon three Cryo Cicins, which are small Cryo bat-like creatures that will deal damage and disappear when the Cicin Mage is defeated. After, the Mage will go between releasing bursts of AoE Cryo damage, dealing Cryo damage upon contact, channeling ice shards from the ground, and teleporting around the player.

While fighting, the Cryo Cicin Mage may summon a Cryo Shield to protect itself from damage. This shield protects against all Cryo damage but is weak against Pyro and heavy attacks. The shield can be destroyed manually, but will also disappear if players kill every Cryo Cicin nearby. The player will be able to deal damage like normal to the Mage after the shield is destroyed. Because of this, players should take Pyro and Claymore users to fight this enemy.

The Fatui Cryo Cicin Mage and the Electro Cicin Mage have the same item drops when defeated. A defeated Cicin Mage has a chance of dropping Recruit’s Insignia, Sergeant’s Insignia, and Lieutenant’s Insignia (much like other Fatui enemies), which are necessary for ascending characters like Tartaglia, Rosaria, and others. Cicin Mages also drop Mist Grass Pollen, Mist Grass, and Mist Grass Wicks, which are important weapon ascension materials.

Fatui Cryo Cicin Mages can be found in the world, as well as in the Spiral Abyss. Because of this, knowing how to beat them can help players farm them for important materials, and prepare players for when they encounter them during explorations in Dragonspine.
