Fear Street Star Thinks Ziggy Stole The Book During Post-Credits Scene

Fear Street: 1666 star Kiana Madeira agrees with the theory that Ziggy stole the book in the film's post-credits scene. Fear Street is a Netflix horror trilogy based on a book series of the same name written by R. L. Stine. Netflix bought the film rights and filmed the movies back to back, releasing them throughout July.

The film trilogy follows the cursed history of the town of Shadyside over 300-years. Some city residents believe that it was cursed by a witch named Sarah Fier and that her curse is responsible for the town's long, bloody history of murders and massacres. A teen and her friends set out to battle the evil forces that plague the city and undo the witch's curse. Eventually, they learn the source of the evil is a satanic book utilized by the Goode family to possess others thanks to a deal they made with the devil. In the end, the curse is broken, but a post-credits scene reveals a pair of hands taking the satanic book. The identity of the book thief is unknown, though there are many theories and suspects.

In an interview with Collider, Madeira revealed that she thinks Ziggy stole the book in Fear Street's post-credit scene. Madeira is unsure who took the book, but she believes the theory Ziggy took makes the most sense. She suggests that Ziggy might be motivated by revenge because of her sister's death. Of course, Madeira isn't entirely sure, but it was the one theory that made her think "Maybe." Check out her statement below:

I only started thinking about this after everyone was talking about it. Actually, when we finished filming, I was like, ‘I don’t know!’ I didn’t think about it. But, I’ve seen some people’s theories and I think the one that I’m on board with the most that I think would make most sense is maybe Ziggy. Maybe Gillian’s character. Maybe she still feels unfulfilled because her sister died and she never really got her revenge for it. I don’t know! I saw someone pose that theory and I was like, maybe.

The mystery of who took the book is undoubtedly tricky, as even the cast members themselves don't honestly know. There are multiple theories of who took the book, ranging from Ziggy to Nick Goode to Deena to Nurse Lane. However, Ziggy may be the most likely candidate as her life was dramatically altered by the events of Fear Street 1978, giving her the motivation of vengeance and desire for closure. Alternately, the book could have been snatched by Deena or one of the other heroes of the book for safekeeping, or perhaps by a villain who refuses to stay dead.

Ultimately, the ending of Fear Street effectively sets up the possibility for future installments of the franchise. Fear Street director, Leigh Janiak, has revealed her interests in continuing the franchise and possibly setting up an inter-connected horror universe. Netflix has not yet confirmed more films for the franchise, but the films performed very well, and there is already interest and ideas for future films set in the Fear Street world. If there are future installments, the Ziggy theory would undoubtedly make for an interesting story due to her character's complexity and motivations. There is a possibility that we may never know who took the book. Still, the extra tease serves to keep the film in one's mind even after its ending and illustrates the flexibility of Fear Street and the numerous pathways it could take in the future.
