Warning! Spoilers ahead for Catwoman #33
In the latest issue of DC Comics' Catwoman, Selina Kyle may finally reunite with Batman after their time apart. While the aftermath of the Joker War led to the Bat and Cat taking a year to sort out their respectively changed status quos, a new war has come to Alleytown, the Gotham neighborhood Selina has taken over as its queen and protector. As such, Catwoman has found herself in all kinds of danger, including the Penguin seeking revenge. While it initially looks as though Selina Kyle has met her match with the assassin Father Valley, it seems that she is saved by the Dark Knight himself.
After the devastation caused by Joker, Bruce Wayne had to figure out how to completely overhaul the way he operated as Batman. Likewise, Catwoman made several new enemies after she robbed all of Gotham's criminals of their funds in one grand heist (with the largest target being Penguin). As a result, the Bat and Cat agreed to take a year apart to figure out their new lives, at which point they would then determine whether or not they'd be moving on together into the future. While Batman moved into Gotham proper and has been working alongside the Ghost-Maker to combat the Scarecrow and the Magistrate, Selina became the Queen of Alleytown. However, Selina's neighborhood has recently spiraled into absolute chaos and riots with the GCPD and Magistrate closing in due to Mayor Nakano's war against vigilantism.
In the midst of all of the mayhem of Catwoman #33 from writer Ram V and artist Fernando Blanco, the Penguin has sent the assassin Father Valley to kill Catwoman as revenge for her robbing him, and the malicious killer plunges a blade into Catwoman's side during their resulting brawl. Her new allies Clayface and Killer Croc manage to distract Valley long enough for her to slip into the Gotham Harbor, albeit still bleeding out and facing near-certain death. However, Selina's nine lives don't appear to be up just yet thanks to the Batman himself.
For all intents and purposes, it certainly looks as though Batman has been observing and monitoring from a distance, choosing Selina in peril as the opportune moment to stage a rescue and save the Cat herself. Beyond his love for Selina and his clear desire to keep her alive, the Dark Knight is facing the Magistrate as well. Perhaps he thinks it's time for the two of them to reunite and save the day once again? That being said, it is possible that Selina seeing Batman is just in her head, picturing what she hopes would happen instead of a darker reality.
This new issue does seem to indicate that the Bat and Cat may have a potential team-up in future issues of Catwoman, provided that it's really the Dark Knight doing the saving of Selina from Gotham Harbor. Either way, it certainly looks as though Selina Kyle's Catwoman has been saved by the Batman himself, which will hopefully lead to a dynamic battle against Father Valley and the new Magistrate forces while potentially reigniting the Bat and Cat's romance at the same time in the DC Universe.
