Paramount Pictures announces the release date and special features for the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases of John Krasinski's A Quiet Place Part II. The horror franchise first launched in 2018 with Krasinski and Emily Blunt leading the cast, while The Office alum also starred and rewrote Bryan Woods and Scott Beck's original script. A Quiet Place debuted to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and was a box office smash, grossing over $350 million against a $22 million budget.
Following this success, Paramount convinced Krasinski to return for a follow-up alongside Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe. Picking up immediately after the first film's events, A Quiet Place Part II follows the Abbott family as they must venture out into the world ravaged by alien invaders hunting by sound. However, they learn they aren't the only threat out there. One of the first movies to be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film finally arrived in theaters this past May and saw rave reviews from critics and audiences and set several box office records, including the biggest opening weekend during the pandemic at the time.
On the heels of the film's arrival on digital platforms and Paramount+, Paramount Pictures has unveiled the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release date for A Quiet Place Part II, as well as a two-movie Blu-ray collection pairing it with the first film. The studio has also offered a glimpse at the special features included in the home media release, including a video diary with writer/director Krasinski and exploring some of the harrowing narrative elements for the sequel. Check out the special features and home media covers below:
- Feature film in high definition
- Director’s Diary: Filming with John Krasinski
- Pulling Back the Curtain
- Regan’s Journey
- Surviving the Marina
- Detectable Disturbance: Visual Effects and Sound Design
After being delayed by just over a year, A Quiet Place Part II did indeed prove worth the wait, with Krasinski delivering more of the effective scares and silence-based atmosphere that terrified audiences the first time around while excitingly expanding the film's universe. Though its arrival on Paramount+ may prove enough for some viewers, the list of special features included in the home media releases for the sequel is sure to entice some to add it to their collection. It will offer an exciting dive into the hit sequel, from exploring the development of some of its narrative elements to the haunting sound design and visual effects.
The future looks bright for the horror franchise for those who are still in love with the series after A Quiet Place Part II. Only one new film is confirmed to be in development with Loving's Jeff Nichols writing and directing a spin-off on an idea from Krasinski. However, Blunt has teased that her filmmaker husband has an idea for a potential third mainline installment, leaving the door open for a continuation of the sequel's jaw-dropping ending. In the meantime, fans can take the time to revisit the first two installments when the two-movie collection and A Quiet Place Part II hit shelves on July 27.
