Wonder Woman's 5 Funniest (& 5 Saddest) Moments In The DCEU

Wonder Woman is by far one of the most interesting characters in the DCEU. She's at once a powerful Amazon, a godlike being, and very human. In her lifetime, she's had to say goodbye to her home, knowing she would never come back again, and then she had to enter a whole new strange world. Most notably, she lost her loved ones because she doesn't age the way other people do.

Despite all this, Wonder Woman is ultimately a hero who personifies hope. Wonder Woman never gives up, not even in the face of enormous losses and adversity. As a result, she still maintains her good heart and a sense of humor despite hardships. Her DCEU movies are filled with both wonderfully sad and funny moments.

10 Funniest: Hiding In Plain Sight

When Diana and Steve arrive in London, Diana's appearance draws a lot of attention to her. Steve decides that Diana should get new clothes to blend in with the rest of the people better. Diana agrees, and she, Steve, and Etta Candy visit dress stores to get new clothes.

Diana first makes some accurate remarks about the impractical clothes women wear in the world of men. Steve then chooses a hat and glasses to hide Diana's remarkable appearance, but Etta is quick to point out that even then, Diana is still the most beautiful woman Steve has ever met. The natural dynamic between Diana, Etta, and Steve makes this one of the funniest scenes in the film.

9 Saddest: Steve Trevor Dies

Diana has known a lot of joy in her life but also a tragic loss. One of the saddest moments happens when Diana realizes that Steve had just died.

She snaps, and full of rage and grief, goes to defeat Ares. She even almost kills Doctor Poison before she remembers Steve's words and spares the villain instead. Even though Diana does succeed in stopping Ares, it's a hollow victory because of Steve's demise.

8 Funniest: Steve And Diana Share A Bed

When Diana and Steve sail to the land of men, they talk about sharing a bed on their boat. Steve is nervous about being in close proximity to Diana and they end up talking about the pleasures of the flesh, as Diana put it.

Steve is surprised by the openness with which Diana discusses such things. His embarrassment and Diana's pleasantly straightforward approach to the matter make the whole banter delightfully smart and funny.

7 Saddest: Diana Says Goodbye To Her Mother

Diana might have sometimes defied her mother, Queen Hippolyta, but the two were always close regardless. So when Diana decides to leave Themyscira and goes with Steve to the land of men to stop Ares, she and her mother have to say their goodbyes.

Hippolyta catches up with Diana just as she's about to go away, and she sends her daughter away with words of love. Anybody who ever had to say goodbye to their loved ones will understand the sadness of the moment.

6 Funniest: Steve Gets To Know The '80s

Steve died during World War I, so when he wakes up in 1984 thanks to Diana's wish, the world is very different. Steve has to get to know it all over again, which leads to some of the funniest moments in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020).

To name just two, Steve admires the work of art that turns out to be a dustbin, and then he tries on multiple sets of clothing that Diana absolutely hates but he loves anyway. Before the big action of the movie, it's good to see the two of them just having fun and hanging out again.

5 Saddest: Diana And Steve Say Their Goodbyes

Even before Steve sacrifices his life to help Diana save the world, there's another sad moment between them. It happens when they're saying their goodbyes. Diana can't properly hear what Steve's saying to her at the moment, so his last words to her come out blurry and undefined.

Still, it's clear that Steve knows he won't be coming back, which he cements by giving Diana his watch before he leaves her behind. It's a brief but powerful moment.

4 Funniest: The Secret Of Diana's Origin

Diana has never been like other people, and this becomes obvious when she and Steve discuss Diana's origin. After arriving on Themyscira, Steve notices there are no men on the island. Diana and Steve then talk about her birth.

Diana explains she has no father, as her mother sculpted her from clay and she was then brought to life by Zeus. Steve's answer to this claim is wonderfully simple: "Well, that's neat." It's a nice nod to the comics. It also later shows that despite Diana's earlier words, there's more to her origin than meets the eye.

3 Saddest: Diana Sees The Villagers Are Dead

Even though Wonder Woman is one of the most optimistic DC superheroes, there are still moments in the films where even she has to acknowledge the cruelty of the world around her.

One such moment happens when Diana returns to a previously occupied village and discovers it's been filled with poisonous gas and everyone had died. It's a sad moment for Diana, who realizes she can't save everyone.

2 Funniest: Wonder Woman Joins Superman And Batman

Not all of Wonder Woman's funny scenes happen in her solo movies. When she joined Superman and Batman to fight against Doomsday, neither expected her to show up and were surprised.

The hilarity intensified when they discovered Diana was with neither of them. Superman asked: "Is she with you?" to which Batman replied: "I thought she was with you." The dialogue between them was hilarious while Diana minded her business and prepared for the upcoming battle.

1 Saddest: Steve And Diana Say Goodbye Again

Saying goodbye once would be tragic enough but having to do it all over again is even worse. When Steve realizes his presence is hurting Diana, he decides to let go. Diana is upset about it, but he convinces her in the end.

They say their goodbyes, and Diana then walks away, knowing Steve will soon disappear, tears running from her eyes. It's a deeply emotional moment but, at least this time, she and Steve got to say their goodbyes properly.
