The Batman Reshoots With Robert Pattinson & Colin Farrell Film In July

Robert Pattinson and Colin Farrell are heading back to Glasgow to film the final scenes for the highly anticipated Matt Reeves movie The Batman. The Caped Crusader's upcoming solo film was originally meant to be a Ben Affleck vehicle, one the actor would write and direct himself. When Affleck stepped away from the role, Matt Reeves took over as director, casting Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. Unfortunately, The Batman has been plagued by delays due to the coronavirus pandemic and, when filming picked up, Pattinson reportedly caught COVID and production was forced to shut down again.

This prompted Warner Bros. to delay the film, first to October 2021 and then to March 2022. Still, The Batman remains a highly anticipated film despite the fact that little is known about its plot. Early glimpses at the film have previewed The Batman's slate of villains, including ZoĆ« Kravitz's Catwoman, Colin Farrell's Penguin, and Paul Dano's Riddler, but how all of it will come together remains a mystery. With filming on The Batman officially wrapping in March, it seemed like it would be smooth sailing from here on out, but now new reports suggest that there's still work to be done.

The Daily Record says that Pattinson and Farrell are heading back to Glasgow - the location where early set photos originally came from and the stand-in for Gotham City - to complete reshoots. They will also travel to the city of York for two more weeks of shooting. Warner Bros. reportedly hopes to complete filming by mid-July. Reshoots like this are typical for a film of this magnitude and not usually a sign of low confidence from the studio.

With The Batman so close to completing production, another trailer may be on the horizon. Warner Bros. originally released the first footage from The Batman at DC FanDome in 2020, but no clips have been released since. With the movie still a little under a year from its release date, there's plenty of time for Warner Bros. to build hype, not that that's necessary. The Batman may be one of the most hotly anticipated DC movies, partly because it represents a departure from the franchise storytelling of the DCEU.

The Batman will take place on Earth-2 separate from the main continuity of the DCEU. Still, with The Flash reportedly set to introduce some type of Multiverse into the fold, it's very possible that Pattinson's Batman could make an appearance in the main franchise at some point. First, though, it looks like The Batman will be going back to the character's roots, both literally and figuratively, telling a dark story about the early years of his crimefighting in Gotham.
