Some new out-of-bounds Resident Evil Village photos show off just how imposing Lady Dimitrescu’s height is compared to that of Ethan Winters. Resident Evil Village has been a huge success for Capcom. Since its release it has become one of the most successful Resident Evil games to date, selling an incredible three million copies in just four days after its release.
A lot of Resident Evil Village’s success, especially so soon after its launch, can almost certainly be put down to Lady Dimitrescu. When Capcom first decided to put the bewitching mistress of the village’s castle at the forefront of its advertising campaigns, it was unprepared for the amount of attention she would garner. The world went wild for Resident Evil Village’s “Tall Vampire Lady,” resulting in some very thirsty tweets and bizarre fantasies (to put it politely). Even Maggie Robertson, the actress that brought Lady Dimitrescu to life, was surprised by the sudden internet fascination with her character.
A lot of the media surrounding Resident Evil Village’s Lady Dimitrescu was and still is, focused on her height. At an impressive 9 ft 6 inches, Lady D easily stands a head and shoulders above most characters in Resident Evil’s universe, human or otherwise. However, while it has always been known that she is tall, it is still rather alarming to see her actually next to other Resident Evil characters. This is certainly the case with some new photos from Twitter user BoundaryBreak. BoundaryBreak, as the name suggests, runs a channel that takes fans beyond the set limits of various video game titles. In their latest set of Resident Evil Village photos, the creator has managed to move the game’s camera from its traditional first-person perspective to that of a third-person one. As such, Ethan Winters’ figure can be seen fleeing from Lady Dimitrescu throughout her palatial castle, and he seems particularly diminutive in stature by comparison.
Resident Evil Village’s Lady Dimitrescu is not the only one to have received this change in viewpoint comparison from BoundaryBreak. Using the same third-person perspective, BoundaryBreak has also shown how The Duke compares to Ethan, and the results of this view are possibly more surprising than that of Lady Dimitrescu. While The Duke clearly has a more robust figure, his actual height has never been assumed to be anything other than normal. However, it turns out that even Village’s merchant is taller than your average salesman when shown next to Ethan Winters.
What is even harder to miss in either of these sets of Resident Evil Village photos, however, is the fact that Ethan Winters’ character model does not actually have ahead. Capcom has always been careful to hide Ethan’s face at all times to keep players' in-game immersion, but apparently, this extended to the point that the developers never even created a full-body model for the unlikely hero.
Seeing Resident Evil Village from this different angle really reveals how intimidated Ethan must have felt in Lady Dimitrescu’s gargantuan presence. Perhaps it was lucky for Ethan that her role in the game was over fairly swiftly, and his subsequent foes were a little easier to look at eye to eye. Just imagine how baby Rose must have felt.
Resident Evil Village is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
