Marvel's Thor Was Nearly Killed By One Of The Coolest Weapons Ever

Warning! Spoilers for Heroes Reborn #5 by Marvel Comics below!

Thor just came face-to-face with Power Princess in the Heroes Reborn timeline and was just impaled by one of the coolest weapons in comics. As the God of Thunder slowly remembers who he was in a reality where the Avengers never formed, Marvel's pastiche of Wonder Woman nearly killed him one of her most powerful weapons: The Invisible Sword.

The cracks in the Heroes Reborn universe are finally starting to show. In a Marvel Comics world where the Squadron Supreme - Marvel's pastiche of the Justice League - are the most celebrated heroes on Earth and Mephisto is seen as God, those who have been outcast are slowly remembering their past. Blade, the only Avenger who remembers the previous timeline, has been assembling his teammates in a world where the superteam never formed. His journey has led to him finding Thor (who became a hard-drinking mortal) Captain America (who was frozen), Black Panther, and the Phoenix. Now, Thor is confronting Power Princess about the universe's changes.

In Heroes Reborn #6's main story, by Jason Aaron, Eric D'Urso, Jason Keith, and VC's Cory Petit, Power Princess's incredible history in the new universe is shown. She's defeated and turned some of the biggest threats in existence into stone, including the King in Black, Tigra, and most recently, All-Gog. When she hears the cries of a god, she returns to Asgard which has become a graveyard. When she arrives, Thor lets himself be known and tells her that he's finally remembering his past. Power Princess doesn't know who he is, but attacks. In a surprise move, she impales Thor with No-Blade, the Invisible Sword.

Thor falls to his knees before letting out a powerful storm blast against Power Princess. However, when she tries to get Thor to bow down to her, the God of Thunder remembers his hammer Mjolnir and summons it to return to his god-like form. Before Power Princess can attack him again, Thor disappears, leaving the Squadron Supreme to wonder what just happened.

Power Princess's Invisible Sword is clearly an homage to Wonder Woman, who famously uses an Invisible Jet in her own comic book adventures. Having a weapon that her opponents can't seem to coming creates quite the advantage. As Power Princess puts it, "the shock in their eyes never gets old." Unfortunately for her, stabbing Thor in the chest with the cool weapon led to him remembering his true identity. It appears the series Avengers vs. Squadron Supreme final battle is coming soon. Heroes Reborn #5 is available in comic book shops now.
