However, there are some great quotes from the main characters that fans have forgotten, but they are just as important as the most famous ones and deserve to be brought back to light. Serious or important, there are several underrated lines that fans should look back on.

10 "Being Aware Of Your Crap And Actually Overcoming Your Crap Are Two Very Different Things." - Cristina Yang

Cristina is not afraid to speak her mind under any circumstance, but she is not as rude as viewers pin her to be. In fact, she is extremely loyal to her friends and determined in her field of work. Sometimes characters need someone like Cristina to get them off their feet and face their troubles straight on.

This quote motivates someone to take action with the troubles in their life instead of sulking about it. While being aware of the problems is good, nothing will change unless action is taken.

9 "Walk Tall. All You Can Do Is Be Brave Enough To Get Out Of There. You Fought. You Loved. You Lost. Walk Tall." - Mark Sloan

Mark shares these words with Callie while in the elevator. Callie tells him that she used to walk tall, but her personal failures and humiliation have cut her down a few inches. While this stressful environment may do that to the characters, Mark tells her to walk tall no matter what has happened, and what will happen, because sometimes walking tall is all she can do in some situations.

This uplifting quote makes Callie think, and it also shows more about Mark and his way of approaching situations. Despite some of Mark's negative qualities, he is a good mentor.

8 "There's A Land Called Passive Aggressive, And You're Their Queen."  -Derek Shepard

In an elevator scene with Derek and Meredith, they both confess that they are over one another, and as the elevator doors open and Meredith leaves, Addison steps in.

There is obvious tension surrounding the situation, and Addison is not having it. The two have had their ups and downs, from Addison cheating on Derek, to the love interest with Derek and Meredith, but this comment from Derek is memorable.

7 "Not Everyone Has To Be Happy All The Time. That Isn't Mental Health. That's Crap." - Meredith Grey

Meredith is known for some of the best quotes from the show, but she has many more hidden gems. This vulnerability is important, especially when some of the characters are expected to be alert and on their game. In the end, they are human, and lots of them struggle with being okay mentally.

Meredith is caring to others, but she's not afraid to speak her truth. Meredith admits that being happy all the time is merely impossible, and it's normal to have some crap in life. Toxic positivity is very real, and Meredith called it out perfectly.

6 "You Grew Up. It's A Shame, An Awful Thing To Grow Up. The Carousel Never Stops Turning. You Can Never Get Off." - Ellis Grey

Ellis' quote may hit a little too close to home for some viewers, but it hit Meredith as well. Ellis has always been hard on Meredith, wanting her to be extraordinary and fulfilling the plans she had for her daughter as a little girl.

However, Meredith grew up and she is who she is, despite her mother's harsh words to her throughout her career. Ellis is right about how they can never stop themselves from growing up, and how she can never go back to what once was.

5 "Oh Screw Beautiful! I'm Brilliant! If You Want To Appease Me, Compliment My Brain." - Cristina Yang

Cristina is ambitious and has worked hard to get to where she is in her field, and she deserves recognition and respect. While Cristina is known for being confident in herself and how she looks, she is also confident in her work.

A lot of the women on the show are brave, smart, and deserve recognition for their strength on the show, and Cristina's comment shows this. In a profession like hers, getting complimented for her brain means more than anything else.

4 "Trauma Always Leaves A Scar. It Follows Us Home. It Changes Our Lives." - Alex Karev

Alex first came onto the show as an arrogant intern, but he's changed over time. Alex is laying in the hospital bed comforting Izzie, and talking about how trauma affects people.

Alex and the others have experienced a lot of trauma in their careers and personal lives, but he tries to understand the meaning of trauma and how it can impact people moving forward.

3 "Sometimes It's Good To Be Scared. It Means You Still Have Something To Lose." - Richard Webber

Richard is one of the best mentors on the show, and he always has some words of wisdom to share. Being scared may not seem like a good thing at first, but Richard is always looking at the other side and finding the positives.

Richard has been around for a long time and he's seen lots of horrible things, but he is stoic and wise, and is always there for his team, making sure they are cared for.

2 "Because You Can Do Every Single Thing Right, And Still People Die." -April Kepner

Sometimes the truth is hard to hear, but April couldn't be more spot on. In their profession, patients die, and horrible events happen. They can do everything right but still, lose a life.

While this may be difficult to understand and accept, there can be peace knowing they have done all they can, but it can also be devastating that everything isn't enough. Guilt is a big theme in this show, and April is not afraid to have an open conversation about it.

1 "Yes, Horrible Things Do Happen. Happiness, In The Face Of All That, That's Not The Goal. Feeling Horrible, And Knowing That You're Not Gonna Die From Those Feelings, That's The Point." - Katherine Wyatt

Katherine is a psychiatrist at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. She does not have a major story arc in the show, but her words leave a meaningful impact. Katherine was Meredith's therapist.

When Meredith tells her about what horrible things happen in this world, this is her response. She puts a new perspective on things by saying that surviving these horrible times is the reward, and it is the goal to be aware that she can make it through when everything seems impossible. While everyone searches for happiness, sometimes making it through the tough times can be just as rewarding.
