It looks like the super feud of DC Comics fame is over as of Tuesday's Fortnite’s Season 7 trailer, as fans noticed that Superman enjoys customizing his in-game skin in the Batman locker. The accompanying Season 7 Battle Pass trailer also dropped some big news for the future of the game, and both Superman and Rick from Rick and Morty skins are available to fight off the alien invasion in Fortnite's latest themed season.
Fortnite has been graced by several DC superheroes in the past, including an Aquaman and multiple Batman skins. While Chapter 2, Season 6 was previously speculated to be DC-themed (given the Fortnite/Batman: Zero Point comic books which released in April) before being revealed with it's now-retired "Primal" theme, there was no Galactus-esque battle to round out that season. Instead, there have been a few DC skins available to purchase, alongside other DC-themed cosmetics. Now, though, an official Superman Fortnite skin has entered the picture, which may mean more DC heroes could make their way to The Island in future updates, especially now that the Fortnite universe is under threat by an alien threat.
In the story trailer for Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 7, Clark Kent realizes the threat of the alien invasion, dramatically spinning around in his Daily Planet chair and looking off into the distance. Before he strips off his suit and becomes Superman, it can be seen that the Kryptonian was previously slacking off at work by playing a bit of Fortnite. Most notable about this Easter egg is that Superman's screen shows Batman's locker, and he appears to be in the process of customizing his Batman Comic Book skin.
As news broadcasters explain the impending doom from the alien invasion, it seems Clark Kent will zoom out of the daily planet, ripping off his suit and turning into Superman. Though Fortnite players haven't gotten to see the two join forces against the aliens in a cinematic (at least, not yet), it’s certainly interesting to see that Superman and Batman are getting along in the game's wide universe of crossovers. It is, however, a bit odd for the character that Superman would be slacking off at his job, but perhaps even Kryptonians need gaming breaks.
Superman, alongside the burping mad scientist Rick Sanchez will be fighting off the new threat from beyond the stars together, along with previously added Fornite skins like Batman's. The epic crossover will finally bring Superman and Batman together in the virtual world, though whether they’ll stay friends or get into an ego-fueled carnage again is anyone’s bet. At least they’ll always be able to rely on Martha to set things straight.
Fortnite is available on all platforms.
