Far Cry 5 Mod Adds Greggs Sandwich Shop To The Game | Screen Rant

A talented creator has upped the stakes in Far Cry 5 by adding a Greggs store to the Ubisoft classic. Greggs is a lunchtime staple in Britain, specializing in savory snacks and nibbles as well as sandwiches and hot drinks. There's over 2000 Greggs in the UK, but now players from across the globe can visit the establishment without leaving the comfort of their own home thanks to Far Cry 5 and its Arcade Mode.

Far Cry 5's Arcade mode allows gamers to design their own maps using over 9000 assets not only from the game itself, but also from other Ubisoft franchises including Assassin's Creed. While Arcade mode won't return for Far Cry 6, the FC5 Arcade community is still thriving thanks to the deep customization and endless tools on offer. Players can even make settings for weather, time of day and more. Maps can be single-player, co-op, or multiplayer, with a range of modes to choose from including Assault, Death Match and Bounty Hunt.

Modder and YouTuber Mojo Swoptops may have set a new in-game standard with their Greggs build, which is a faithful recreation of the iconic store. As reported by Eurogamer, Far Cry 5's hottest sandwich establishment took around three hours to create, with the entire process being shared to YouTube. The impressive build has some incredible attention to detail, with shelves being stocked with boxed sandwiches and fresh fruit, as well as burgers, which presumably are there to replace the hot food cabinet. The outside of the store is just as impressive, complete with trash strewn across the ground and what looks to be a drunk person sleeping it off while waiting to get their breakfast sandwich. The Greggs sign is also fairly faithfully recreated, culminating in a build much more palatable than a lukewarm sausage roll. One gamer recently had their Far Cry 5 GoldenEye 007 levels removed by Ubisoft, though it seems unlikely that Greggs would take similar action.

Mojo Swoptop's Greggs isn't the only impressive creation under their belt, with hundreds of videos showcasing their talent using the Ubisoft tools. Their YouTube is a veritable treasure trove of imaginative builds, including the graveyard from Resident Evil Village, and Call of Duty's Shipment map. TV shows and movies also haven't escaped without a recreation, with builds such as The Office's Dunder Mifflin and even the Home Alone house also being made in-game.

Far Cry 5's map editor offers limitless opportunities for those with the skills, patience, and imagination. Players have previously recreated everything from Minecraft to The Mandalorian's Razor Crest within Far Cry 5. Thanks to the mode's success, many were disappointed to learn it won't be returning in Far Cry 6, though the decision was apparently a tough one for Ubisoft. In a Reddit "Ask me Anything," game director Alexandre Letendre stated: “No, Arcade will not come back. Removing this mode from our plan was a difficult decision, but allowed us to focus our efforts on the main campaign, transporting players into the heart of a modern-day guerrilla revolution.” It's worth noting that the Arcade mode and map editor could be added into the game later down the line in the form of DLC.

Far Cry 6 will have the largest map in the series to date, which hopefully means players will be too busy exploring Yara to miss Arcade mode. Far Cry 5 players are still creating and sharing their incredible maps with the map editor though, which hopefully means the community will continue to grow despite the new addition to the franchise. Far Cry 6 is still one of the year's most hotly-anticipated games, despite its lack of a Greggs.
