10 Thor Villains More Powerful Than Loki | ScreenRant

It goes without saying that Loki is one of the best Thor villains to ever come out of the Marvel universe. Not only has he stood the test of time in comics but he's also making a comeback in the MCU with his own series. However, for all the love that there is for Loki, it's possible that the God of Mischief lacks power in some spots.

Yes, Loki was the Avenger's first foe and is a powerful villain for sure. Yet, in the pantheon of Thor villains, there may be others who are just as or more powerful than Loki.

10 Galactus

Now, most Marvel fans hear the name Galactus, devourer of worlds, and think immediately of the Fantastic Four. Galactus is usually a big-name Fan4 baddie like Doctor Doom. However, that's not to say he and Thor didn't go toe-to-toe a few times.

From the far-flung future to battling over Asgard to even seeking Thor's help which led to a short-lived and strange friendship, Galactus is always a powerful foe for Thor to face off against even if his last encounter led to his death.

9 Black Winter

In recent comics, Galactus came to Thor for help against the being that destroyed his galaxy years ago. The Black Winter, a massive space cloud that consumed everything in its path, had come to the Marvel Universe in search of Galactus who'd escaped him long ago.

Making Thor his herald, the pair teamed up to take the being down. After being subjected to tortured vision through the Black Winter's touch, the being revealed it had come not to destroy the galaxy but for Galactus, their herald. A cool twist considering how powerful Galactus is that ultimately went nowhere following both of their deaths by Thor's hand.

8 The Midgard Serpent

When the comics borrow from actual mythology, it's always cool to see. Given Thor's Norse roots, it was only a matter of time before the Asgardian saw some foes from his mythos pop up. Among those villains lay Jormungandr, The Midgard Serpent.

Circling the entire earth, Jormungandr was always a classic villain for Thor to face off against. Constantly at each other's throats, neither winning nor losing, it was a never-ending battle quite similar to Thor and Loki's.

7 Cul Borson, The Serpent

Names can be weird in comics. Many a character end up sharing the same name, such as Cul Borson, the Serpent. Introduced during the "Fear Itself" storyline as the brother of Odin and a powerful god who sought to destroy the world, the Serpent was nothing like Jormungandr.

The God of Fear, Cul unleashed a slew of hammers on the world, bringing about dark versions of heroes like the Hulk and the Thing. With his heralds of destruction, Cul nearly destroyed the world if not for the help of Thor, who slew his uncle only for him to be brought back as a much minor antagonist later on.

6 The Destroyer

Over the years, there have been many suits that have gained a sort of life of their own. The Destroyer was a suit of armor created by the Gods that used the lifeforce of a being in order to be used.

Time again, one would offer themself up to the power of the Destroyer to take on Thor, whether it be the son of Odin or Jane Foster, the Destroyer suit was a vicious villain for the God of Thunder to face.

5 Kurse

As the Destroyer, the likes of Kurse is a legendary Thor foe who comes in a sort of suit. Known for being in one of the worst MCU movies, Kurse was a being from the race of Dark Elves who was a mighty villain that Thor took on.

Usually working alongside the likes of Malekith, Kurse has proven himself time again over the years who had an impressive and vicious reign of terror over the nine realms.

4 Hela

Sibling rivalries are always fun to see. A rivalry between Gods is another story. Considered to be the worst sibling of Odin's kids in the MCU, Hela the Goddess of Death is a powerhouse of a villain.

The goddess of death and ruler over the land of Hel, Hela's been a thorn in Thor and many of the Asgardians sides throughout the years and even had a fling with the Mad Titan himself, Thanos.

3 Surtur

The end of all things comes as a terrifying thought for all. Putting a face to the name though makes the thought even more horrifying. Surtur, the fire giant and lord of Muspelheim has been a long-time foe of Thor, seen as one of his more vicious ones.

Thought to bring about the end of the world, Ragnorok itself, Surtur has been a thorn in Thor and Asgard's side for years, always one step closer to ending the world with every appearance in comics and the MCU.

2 Mangog

Most Marvel villain's powers seem to come from a single place or within themself. However, for something like the Mangog, the power comes from the hatred of billions and billions of beings.

Deadset on bringing about the end of Asgard and the Gods, the Mangog has popped up several times throughout thor comics, taking on the God of Thunder and the Asgardians. In recent comics, the monstrous being even decimated the world of Asgard and severely wounded several Gods.

1 Gorr the God Butcher

Everyone has a different opinion. Some people may place one character or another at a higher placement of power set or have a different number, one villain, in mind. However, it goes without saying that Gorr the God Butcher stands as one of the more powerful villains in Thor's rogue's gallery.

Intent on crafting a world without Gods, Gorr brutalized not just Thor but Loki as well in the past, present and future. Set to appear in Thor: Love And ThunderGorr the God Butcher is a truly powerful Thor villain.
