Star Trek's Worf Actor Releases Mysterious Tease Video

Michael Dorn, who plays Worf in the Star Trek franchise, issues a mysterious video tease on social media. Dorn got his franchise start on Star Trek: The Next Generation, where he played Starfleet's very first Klingon officer, Worf. He appeared in all seven seasons of TNG and even went on to star in the four movies with that series' cast. Worf's transition to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine further deepened the character, and he's regularly counted among one of the very best in Star Trek's history.

Recent years have seen a boom in Star Trek content thanks to CBS All Access (which is now Paramount+). The streaming service kicked off the newest batch of Trek shows with Star Trek: Discovery in 2017 and has several more shows on the way. So far, only Star Trek: Picard has premiered on the service alongside Discovery, and the rest are in various stages of development. The new Trek shows have extended to both live-action and animation. Additionally, at long last, the next film in the franchise was recently scheduled for release in 2023, though few details about that project have been revealed.

On Wednesday, Dorn posted a rather mysterious message on social media. In a video, Dorn's Worf can be seen through a glitching screen as he sends out some kind of distress signal. "This is the U.S.S. Artemis," he says, though the whole message is hard to hear through the glitches. Dorn offered little details, not putting a caption on the video, but it's clear the Worf is actually animated. That, coupled with a follow-up tweet from Dorn that merely says "#ad." seems to point to his participation in a video game. You can see Dorn's post down below.

Earlier in the week, Dorn tweeted he "Just got the news, being summoned back into action. Starfleet calls." That too was accompanied by a "#ad" addition, so it's clear his Star Trek return isn't in any show or movie. Instead, it looks like confirmation that Dorn has provided his voice to the RPG game Star Trek: Legends, which launched recently on Apple Arcade. This isn't quite the return some fans might have been expecting, but it should still be a thrill to play the game knowing he contributed to Worf's appearance.

Earlier this year, Dorn commented on the possibility of him guest-starring on Star Trek: Picard like his fellow TNG cast members Marina Sirtis, Jonathan Frakes, and Brent Spiner. Dorn stated it would have to be for a satisfying story, since he wouldn't want to put on all the Worf makeup for a quick cameo. In that case, Star Trek fans might have to wait a bit longer to see Worf return in a live-action form. For the time being, they can play Star Trek: Legends to perhaps tide them over.
