It has been years since the occupants of Wisteria Lane were on the television screen, airing all their dirty laundry including infidelity, betrayal, and even murder. A lot has changed in the world and a new batch of young actors has cropped up, so it would be an interesting time to see a reboot of the then-scandalous show Desperate Housewives. The show featured a lot of big talent that included not just the actors portraying the main women but the actors playing their husbands and love interests, as well as their children.
Many of the actors from the show went on to do even bigger things with the show launching the Housewives into celebrity status. The reboot would have big shoes to fill but the available stars in Hollywood today could fill the roles in a fresh, new way and maybe even help launch some new stars.
10 Susan Mayer - Mila Kunis
On the show, Susan was the klutzy hopeless romantic, before Mike came along, trying to figure out single motherhood. If the show were to be rebooted today, the actor who played Susan would have to be able to portray her energetic optimism and bashfulness and be able to bring the unique humor Susan brought to the group
A great fit for this role would be Mila Kunis. Her time as Jackie on That 70's Show and her fun and relatable character on Bad Moms prove that she should have no trouble conquering the role of the lovable Susan. Mila Kunis is similar in age to Terri Hatcher when she started as Susan on the show and she should have no trouble playing the confident funny children's book author.
9 Julie Mayer-Jenna Ortega
After her time as snarky film lover Ellie on You and young Jane in Jane The Virgin, Jenna Ortega shows she can be a good fit to play the smart independent daughter of Susan, Julie. Throughout the show Julie is a key character, helping Susan out of a lot of jams while still trying to find time to be a teen. Ortega seems like she could bring the charm and witty humor to Julie that she effortlessly exuded in You and Yes Day.
8 Bree Van De Kamp - Janel Parrish
Bree is the obsessive housewife who seems to do it all. Cooking, cleaning, decorating, and creatively solving any issue that comes her way. An actress who would be able to portray such a force of nature would be Janel Parrish, most well known for her time as the persistent and calculating Mona Vanderwall on Pretty Little Liars and the spin-off The Perfectionists.
If any of the housewives of Wisteria had what it takes to be A, Bree is certainly the best contender. Parrish would easily be able to exude the classy confidence that Bree was known for and she could bring a fresh take to the overextending housewife who never gets the thanks she deserved.
7 Gabrielle Solis - Diane Guerro
Eva Longoria was a housewife who was fueled by passion and luxury and she often let her desires get her in trouble; like hooking up with the pool boy behind her husband's back. A modern version of this could be showing an empowered woman who, when she doesn't get what she needs from her husband, takes matters into her own hands.
Another strong actor who could provide the same energy would be Diane Guerro. She portrayed a similarly charismatic manipulator with her time as Martiza on Orange Is The New Black. Maritza was in jail for scamming unsuspecting men using her looks and wit, and can easily be compared to Gabrielle, who did plenty of things that should have led to her being put behind bars but she just never got caught. Guerro would be a perfect fit for Gabby, who went from diva to devoted.
6 Carlos Solis - Michael Trevino
Carlos is the on-and-off-again husband of Gabrielle on the show. He can be jealous and has a temper problem, but he loves Gabby with all his heart, except for the part that loves his mother. The actor who portrays him would have to have good chemistry with Gabby's actor and be able to show qualities like strength and charm and be able to portray his short-tempered side.
An actor who checks all these boxes would be Michael Trevino, most well known for his time as Tyler Lockwood on The Vampire Diaries. He is similar in age to Guerro, making him a good fit to portray her Desperate husband. Trevino would be a great fit for the charming but short-fused husband of Wisteria Lane.
5 Mary Alice Young - Kirby Howell-Baptiste
Kirby Baptiste Howell has become popular among fans after her roles in The Good Place and the Veronica Mars reboot, both of which show off her chemistry with Kristen Bell. And with each role, she she shows viewers a different side of herself. She has already worked alongside Marc Cherry, the creator behind Desperate Housewives, with her role as Taylor in his show Why Women Kill. She did an amazing job playing such a refreshing character and should have no trouble bringing to life another one of his characters.
Mary Alice Young might die before the show even starts but her character is a very important part of Desperate Housewives. It would be interesting to see what Kirby does with the character, whose main role is to be the omniscient narrator of the show. Her pleasant voice and charismatic personality should lead to her being well received as the character.
4 Mike Delfino - Paul Wesley
Mike was the rugged new guy in town who turned out to be an ex-convict on the hunt to find out about his ex-girlfriend's disappearance. He ends up falling for Susan and the rest of Wisteria lane and sticks around till his untimely death in the final season. Whoever took over as him would not only need to have good chemistry with Susan's actor but also be able to portray sensitivity and toughness at the same time, something James Denton was really good at during his time on the show. A good fit for this would be Paul Wesley, most known for playing the brooding vampire Stefan on Vampire Diaries. He is close in age to Mila Kunis and the two would make a very attractive couple.
3 Edie Britt - Hayden Panettiere
After playing the devious character of Juliette Barnes on Nashville, Hayden Panettiere is a great pick to take over as the just as flirtatious and manipulative housewife, perfectly portrayed by Nicollette Sheridan. Both roles were confident women who went after what they wanted, damned the consequences. Nashville ended years ago and it would be great to see Panettiere on television again and this role would be a great fit for her. She knows how to play a calculating rival and would have great chemistry with the other new actors.
2 Lynette Scavo - Kristen Bell
Felicity Huffman was amazing as Lynette Scavo, the mom of a newborn and three boys, two of which were twins and she even takes in Tom's daughter from a previous lover on top of it all. She was overworked and stressed out and did not have a lot of patience. Bringing up the boys made her tough and taught her to take no crap from anyone. Huffman was great at this role and someone who would be great to take the reins would be Kristen Bell, who has shown she can handle the bundle-of-nerves mother role, especially after her role in Bad Moms and her own experience as a Mother. Plus it would be a reunion between her and Bad Moms castmate Mila Kunis.
1 Tom Scavo - Dax Shepard
If Kristen would be perfect for Lynette then it is only natural that her real-life husband and fellow actor Dax Shepard plays her on-screen husband. He could easily play the laidback, overly randy dad character of Tom and the two obviously have chemistry, considering they have been married for nearly ten years. While they have played love interests in movies before, the two have never been a loving married couple together on screen so it would be really interesting to see them play the stressed-out parents of a full house of kids who always find their way back to each other.
