Celebrity Sleepover: Johnny Bananas Hopes To Join Professional Wrestling

Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio went from winning The Challenge: Total Madness to hosting NBC's Celebrity Sleepover, but the TV star isn't done making career transitions. While speaking exclusively with ScreenRant, Johnny shared his hopes of jumping in the ring for a professional wrestling match against fellow Challenge alum The Miz.

MTV viewers are already familiar with Johnny. He has consistently appeared on The Challenge for the last two decades and has gone home a winner seven times. Like Chris "CT" Tamburello, Johnny Bananas is definitely worthy of the GOAT title he has earned on the show. Many viewers were surprised to see him skip out on competing in the most recent season Double Agents. But Johnny was actually preparing himself for a switch over to late-night hosting. With his new show, Celebrity Sleepover, Johnny is able to represent himself in new ways and focus more on his dialogue with others rather than his athletic strength.

Being the natural competitor that he is, Johnny still isn't done challenging himself career-wise. During a recent chat with ScreenRant, the reality star revealed his hopes to become a professional wrestler in the near future. "I've actually publicly called The Miz out multiple times to see if he'd bite, but if that was ever offered to me, I'd do it in a heartbeat," Johnny admitted. "It would be hilarious." While reflecting on his television career over the last twenty years, Johnny thinks the transition into wrestling is only right. "I've become over the years, I think, a heel of reality television," Johnny said. "And I think it would be a great space for me to make an impression."

The Real World: Key West alum went on to applaud The Miz for being the first Real World/Challenge star to crossover and find success as a pro wrestler and TV star. "But speaking of The Miz, what he's been able to do with the MTV Challenge and Real World platform, parlaying it into what he has as an actor, as a host, and as a WWE superstar? That guy is pretty much the blueprint of exactly the steps I'd like to follow and the trail I'd like to blaze for myself," Johnny confessed. The six-time Challenge winner is on the right track. He still has the potential to come back for another season of The Challenge or even join the newest spin-off The Challenge: All-Stars.

Additionally, The Real World: Homecoming recently aired on Paramount+, and fans are hopeful the show will continue bringing back alums from past seasons. If they get around to reuniting the Key West cast, Johnny Bananas is sure to make a splash, as he did back in 2006.
