With the big reveal of Agatha Harkness as the series' villain at the end of WandaVision episode 7, the intricacies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe witch's plan clearly extend to the involvement of Vision in some way. Wanda and Vision's friendly neighbor Agnes turned out to be a little too interested in the super-powered couple and was revealed to be Agatha, who has been manipulating them the whole time.
Vision's status has been debated for the duration of the Disney+ show. Is he alive? Is he being controlled by Wanda? Will he survive if the Hex falls? Viewers saw Wanda steal Vision's remains from S.W.O.R.D., but even Wanda doesn't recall how he came to be reanimated and living with his family in several different eras of Westview. It's clear now that he is part of Agatha's plans. She needed him at least functioning, if not truly alive, in order to achieve her goals.
Agatha Harkness has a long history in Marvel Comics as a powerful magic user whose timeline is intertwined with that of Scarlet Witch. When it was revealed that she was behind the manipulation of Westview ("It was Agatha all along!") it became clear that Vision was a key part of her plans, or else, why would she bother?
Agatha didn't need to resurrect Vision, having the ability to conjure an imitation. This may reveal that something about Vision is required for Agatha to achieve her goals. It could be something to do with Vision being “the world’s only vibranium synthezoid," as Darcy Lewis describes him in episode 5. His powers shown in WandaVision could also be a factor, like speed, mental manipulation, or analytical calculation. It could even be Vision's connection to Stark technology – he was born from it and would have an intimate understanding of it like no human could.
What would make Agatha's plan all the worse, however, would be if the true reason she resurrected Vision was the emotional attachment he and Wanda have for each other and for their new children Tommy and Billy. Manipulating the love of the family viewers have come to enjoy through decades' worth of sitcom eras would be truly perfidious. If this is Agatha's motivation for bringing Vision back from the dead, it adds a whole other cruel layer to the villain's scheming in WandaVision.
Whatever Agatha's intention, WandaVision has a whole lot more to reveal over the season's final two episodes, like Agatha's true purpose and role, whether her rabbit Señor Scratch has anything to do with it, details of who Wanda's brother Pietro truly is, and how Jimmy, Darcy, and Monica are going to end the Hex and release the trapped residents of Westview.
