New Pokémon Sword & Shield Event Asks Players To Defeat One Million Cramorant

The latest event in Pokémon Sword and Shield involves defeating lots of hungry birds, as players have been tasked with defeating one million Cramorant by February 8 in order to win prizes. The Wild Area of the Galar region has allowed the Pokémon series to use a live-service format, as special Pokémon can appear in Max Raid events.

The Wild Area is home to Pokémon Dens, which contain battles against Dyanamx and Gigantamax Pokémon. The conflicts against these giant Pokémon are referred to as Max Raid Battles, and they involve four players teaming up against one Pokémon. This might seem unfair, but the Pokémon can have inflated stats, multiple actions per turn, the ability to remove stat buffs/debuffs, and can conjure a protective shield that absorbs hits. The appearance of giant Pokémon has allowed for live events, where players need to defeat a certain number of a specific Pokémon. This happened with the Shiny Zeraora event, as players had to defeat one million Zeraora, in order to win one for themselves.

The latest Wild Area event in Pokémon Sword and Shield involves a fight against a lot of big blue birds. According to the Play Pokémon Twitter page, the Cramorant Max Raid Battle event is now live. Cramorant will appear in Pokémon Dens across the Galar region until February 8. There are prizes to be won if players can defeat half a million Cramorant, and even more, if one million are KO'd in time.

The prizes for defeating half a million Cramorant are a Flame Orb, a Toxic Orb, and a Light Ball. If one million Cramorant are defeated, then players will also receive a Gold Bottle Cap, three regular Bottle Caps, and three Pearl Strings. The items will be distributed as Mystery Gifts from February 10-28. The Bottle Cap items are especially useful, as they can max out the IVs of a level 100 Pokémon.

Defeating one million Cramorant across the space of a few days might seem like a hopeless task, but Super Mario 35 players banded together and defeated five million Bowsers over the course of a week. The Pokémon fans have proven in the past that they have what it takes to band together and take down hundreds of thousands of enemies, and they can do it again, in the name of some awesome items.
