Every Thor 4 & Guardians Reveal From Love & Thunder Set Photos

With Thor: Love and Thunder now filming in Australia, the first batch of set photos have been released, and with them came some interesting reveals about the characters. Now that the Infinity Saga has come to an end with Spider-Man: Far From Home, following the major events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving on with new characters and adventures, this time both on TV/streaming and film. The MCU’s Phase 4 will welcome new characters like the Eternals and Shang-Chi and will continue expanding the stories of previously introduced characters, such as Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and Thor.

The God of Thunder made his MCU debut in 2011 and joined the Avengers the following year, but he hit a rough patch with his second solo movie, Thor: The Dark World, often considered the worst movie in the MCU. Luckily, the character got the changes and development it needed in Thor: Ragnarok, which allowed him to stay for a bit longer in this connected universe, especially now that the rest of the original Avengers have retired in one way or another. Thor will return in Thor: Love & Thunder but he won’t be alone, as he will count on the company of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and will welcome Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) back to the MCU, and she’s expected to take on the mantle of the Mighty Thor, just like she did in the comics.

Thor: Love and Thunder will also feature the Guardians of the Galaxy, with whom Thor now has a special relationship following their teaming up in Avengers: Infinity War and later Thor boarding their ship at the end of Avengers: Endgame. At this point, plot details about Thor: Love and Thunder are unknown, but the first photos from the set have revealed some interesting things about the characters, including the return of a minor character from Guardians of the Galaxy who might have a bigger future in the MCU. Here’s every Thor: Love & Thunder reveal from the set photos.

Thor went through a major transformation in Avengers: Endgame, where after killing Thanos, he left for New Asgard and isolated himself. Thor spent his time drinking beer and playing videogames with Korg and Miek, and ended up becoming “Fat Thor”. Thor kept this look until the end of Endgame, where he appointed Valkyrie as king of New Asgard before he boarded the Benatar and left Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy. While many fans were hoping Thor would keep his “Fat Thor” look in Thor 4, the set photos reveal that won’t be the case, as Chris Hemsworth is back to his more traditional Thor look – except for the costume. The photos show Thor without his well-known Asgardian armor, instead wearing a more casual look with a white singlet, jeans, and a red leather vest, keeping that colorful 1980s-like style Taika Waititi brought in Ragnarok and that will continue in this new adventure.

One of the biggest and most exciting additions to the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder were the Guardians of the Galaxy, especially after the chemistry (and playful rivalry) between Thor and the Guardians seen in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The set photos include a look at Star-Lord’s new costume, though it can’t be fully seen as there are people and objects blocking the view. Still, it can be seen that Star-Lord got a brand new costume for Thor 4 with a new vest, jacket, and it appears like his utility vest has some new additions as well. Star-Lord is also sporting a new facial hair style, possibly hinting at the character being more mature now or being too busy in whatever mission(s) the team has been working on, including the search for Gamora. The photos also show Thor and Star-Lord together, so fans can surely expect more of that fun dynamic between them, and hopefully, they will stop “fighting” for the spot of leader and join forces against whatever they are facing this time.

Along with the Guardians comes Nebula, who has gone through an interesting journey since her first appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy. Nebula went from a faithful soldier of her adoptive father, Thanos, to working alongside the Guardians and later the surviving heroes of the snap, joining them in the time heist. After her past and still evil self made it to the present day, Nebula killed her and joined the Battle of Earth, fighting alongside the Guardians, the Avengers, and the “Female Avengers” when Captain Marvel needed help. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Nebula rejoined the Guardians and left Earth with them and Thor, so it’s not surprising that she will appear in Thor 4. Just like with Thor and Star-Lord, the set photos reveal Nebula’s new costume and overall look, showing that she’s still wearing the gold piece that 2014 Nebula took away from her to take her place. Nebula is no longer wearing the leather outfit seen in Avengers: Endgame, instead sporting a costume more like the one she wore in Guardians of the Galaxy, though instead of purple, this one has more blue and green tones.

The photos from the set of Thor: Love and Thunder show an unexpected player: Kraglin, played by Sean Gunn. Kraglin is the first mate in Yondu’s Ravager Clan and thus the one who remained loyal to him until his death. The last proper look at Kraglin came in one of the post-credits scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where he was seen trying Yondu’s Yaka arrow and controller, and he joined the rest of the MCU in the Battle of Earth in Avengers: Endgame. Kraglin’s return might point at him now being a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy (or the Ravagers making an appearance, too), but most importantly, the set photos show Kraglin wearing Yondu’s Yaka arrow controller or Yaka fin, carrying on with his legacy. It will be interesting to see how Kraglin gets along with the Guardians and Thor and how he uses the Yaka arrow, as the last time he did he wasn’t exactly the most skilled at it.
