The Voice: Gwen Stefani Performing New Song 'Let Me Reintroduce Myself' On Show Tonight

Are you ready for The Voice tonight? Gwen Stefani sure is. In fact, on tonight's show, she will sing her new song “Let Me Reintroduce Myself." The song has reggae inspiration, a sign that the queen of grunge still can win our hearts.

Stefani is a vocal coach on The Voice, having participated for five seasons since 2015. However, the show recently announced that Stefani will be leaving next season and will be replaced by beloved boy bander Nick Jonas. Beyond her participation on the show, 2020 has been a good year for Stefani. She and her fiancé, Blake Shelton, have two songs on the Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, and she reissued her album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas, with two new tunes. Stefani and Shelton met during the show and got engaged earlier this year. Before this latest release, Stefani has won three Grammys and made her mark on Generation Y.

As for her new tune, Stefani composed and recorded the song during government shutdowns and quarantines, and she credits Ross Golan as her co-writer. She has come along way from the ska-inspired band No Doubt, but the group continues to have a positive impact on her music. As for the purpose of the song, Stefani puts it best in a public statement that reads, "This song is a way of saying I’m back with new music. It’s a fun, lighthearted song because I got inspired and hopefully to bring a little bit of joy. The idea was to write a song that had a bit of a nostalgic feeling to it, so I think musically it reminds you of back in the day, going back to where I started musically which was with ska and reggae. I’m still the same me but here’s something a little bit new in case you feel like hearing a little bit more of me.” Have a listen to the song  in the YouTube video below to get a taste of what the Voice viewers and judges will see tonight:

The official lyric video shows a grunge vibe going on with the font as well as the wardrobe, and the t une includes many references to Stefani's previous hits. One interpretation of the lines, "The simple recipe to get the best of me/ Homegrown ingredients, that's what made you mess with me /In the first place (Place), 'cause you know I'm like organic" is that Stefani has remained honest about her personality and roots. The audience knows she's a real singer, and that's why her fans love her. What's more, she is always willing to be herself, not the woman everyone else expects her to be. "I already gave you bananas" is a reference to her song "Hollaback Girl," which played on the radio constantly in the 2000s. Stefani is all about putting herself out there on the stage, no matter how people react, because her authenticity won her love from fans. Even in the middle of a pandemic, she stays true to her image of a woman who has tried out many styles to experiment and reaffirm her voice. There's even a play on "2020 vision," and how no one saw this year coming.

This song calls back to Stefani's roots and reminds the listeners they aren't alone. Stefani is certainly going to kill it on The Voice and show off her years of singing experience. Viewers are in for a great show tonight.
