Those watching the dramatic Men Tell All for Tayshia Adams’ The Bachelorette season were in for a delicious shock when they saw a familiar face in the previews. Popular chef Antonia Lofaso, best known for her appearances on shows such as Top Chef and Chopped, was spotted by Bachelor Nation for a split second. As fans knew that Tuesday’s episode will be the hometowns, seeing Antonia with none other than top contender Ben Smith made them ask many questions. So, who is Antonia, and is she the same sister that The Bachelorette’s Ben spoke about during his previous emotional confessions?
Not only has season 16 Bachelorette Tayshia chosen her final four, but she also might have developed feelings for some, if not all, of the men. Monday’s nail-biter episode saw Tayshia bring back and send home Bennett Jordan, and also bid goodbye to Blake Moynes, Riley Christian, and Noah Erb with a heavy heart. However, this meant Tayshia also has her top suitors – Ben, Brendan Morais, Zac Smith, and Ivan Hall – signaling the oncoming end of “the most dramatic season” of The Bachelorette. Followed by the explosive Men Tell All hosted by Chris Harrison, fans finally saw previews for the remaining three episodes. But as each scene revealed the storm that is coming, a particular face made many do a double-take. For those wondering if the lady talking to Ben was Chef Antonia Lofaso, the answer is “yes,” but she’s not the army veteran’s sister.
Chef, TV personality, cookbook author, and mother, Antonia, 44, has quickly become one of America’s most beloved chefs after her roles on roles on Top Chef, CNBC’s Restaurant Startup, Cutthroat Kitchen, Iron Chef America, Best Thing I Ever Ate, and more. Most recently seen on Food Network’s Guys Grocery Games, Chef Antonia attended the prestigious French Culinary Institute, and, upon graduating, was hired at a Beverly Hills famous restaurant, Wolfgang Puck's Spago. According to her website, Chef Antonia’s food that focuses equally on both cavatelli and carnitas alike, “elicits a curiosity that developed from stepping outside the suburbs of Long Island, and into the culturally diverse landscape of Los Angeles.” You can see this chef in action on her Instagram below:
Back in 2011, the celebrity chef debuted the Black Market Liquor Bar in Studio City, California, which serves up uniquely crafted cocktails from the area's top mixologists, craft beers, gourmet bites, and tasty desserts. Within two years, Chef Antonia opened Scopa Italian Roots to pay homage to her Italian-American heritage by bringing great food, wine, cocktails, and beer to an intimate and inviting environment. Additionally, Chef Antonia is also the author of 2012’s The Busy Mom’s Cookbook: 100 Recipes for Quick, Delicious, Home-Cooked Meals. The book also serves as a memoir for the celebrity chef to tell the inspiring story of how she overcame the challenges of looking after her daughter while simultaneously studying at the elite cooking school.
Coming to her surprise cameo on The Bachelorette, as reported by Reality Steve, Ben trains Chef Antonia at his gym, Deuce Gym. Why Ben’s parents are missing from the show for hometowns is not known, but the culinary genius seems to be close to Ben, which comes across from her Instagram posts. In one, she writes, “Where is my Delta Bravo confessional @benveesmith apparently I can do T2B now too. @deuce_gym thanks 2020.” He also appeared in another post about feeding doctors and nurses at USC LAC. While the dreams of those wishing for a “Ben + Tayshia forever” may have been shattered, the fitness expert declaring he was unsure of being in love softened the blow slightly. However, since leaving the lush La Quinta, Ben has been doing nothing but winning hearts, all thanks to his courage and vulnerability shown on The Bachelorette. With friends like Chef Antonia for support, this“bb” who surely believes in the motto of “keep going” might just become a seasoned reality TV star himself.
The Bachelorette airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
