A third Kombat Pass for Mortal Kombat 11, including four additional characters as well as a new arena, has reportedly been leaked on Reddit. Mortal Kombat 11 released last year, but developer NetherRealm Studios has continued to support the game with downloadable content such as new characters, arenas and character customization options. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, a current-gen rerelease of the game including all previously released content, was also released last month.
Despite releasing more than a year ago, NetherRealm continues to pump out new content for Mortal Kombat 11. The game currently boasts a roster of 37 playable characters, featuring both franchise staples such as Scorpion and Sub-Zero and guest fighters such as the Terminator and the Joker. The latest additional fighter to join the tournament was John Rambo, whose transition from the silver screen to the fighting game franchise was aided through the use of actor Sylvester Stallone's voice and likeness. Another recent addition to the game are three character skins based on the 1995 Mortal Kombat film, with performers Linden Ashby, Bridgette Wilson-Simpras and Christopher Lambert contributing their voices and likenesses to Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade and Raiden respectively.
Now, a third Kombat Pack has apparently been leaked by Twitter user SkaVorah, a source who leaked details about both Mortal Kombat: Aftermath and Kombat Pack 2 before either pack was announced. Proof of the leak was also sent to moderators on Reddit. The apparent leak points to Mortal Kombat alumnus Havik, Smoke and Sareena being added to Mortal Kombat 11 alongside guest character Deathstroke. A new arena, The Living Forest, is also mentioned alongside new character skins and towers. The proposed third Kombat Pack is reportedly set to release in the Spring of next year.
Havik, Smoke and Sareena are all Mortal Kombat characters that fans have expressed interest in seeing return as DLC in Mortal Kombat 11. Havik made his debut in 2004's Mortal Kombat: Deception, and was also playable alongside Sareena in 2006's Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Smoke is considered a Mortal Kombat mainstay, having appeared in several games including NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat from 2009. Deathstroke, a DC Comics villain, appeared as a playable character in NetherRealm's 2013 DC fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us. Should Deathstroke join MK11 he will be the second DC Comics character to be added, after the Joker.
With the warm reception to Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, it seems logical for NetherRealm to continue supporting their newest fighting game installment. The game already has a large roster, and the continued expansion of the game's cast could allow the developer to work on an unrelated project while still pleasing Mortal Kombat fans. While this leaked Kombat Pack is obviously unconfirmed, the four-character size would coincide with another recent leak which claimed that the third pack would be more expensive than Kombat Pack 2.
Mortal Kombat 11 is a rich and expansive fighting game which pays tribute to the franchise's history while also delivering very modern and innovative gameplay. Fans have so far been very receptive to the continuous stream of DLC, so NetherRealm would be smart to continue adding new characters and arenas to the game. While Kombat Pack 3 is far from confirmed, the proposed roster of characters for Mortal Kombat 11 would fit well with NetherRealm's previous content packs.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and PC.
