Dragon Age 4 Will Be Shown At The Game Awards 2020 | Screen Rant

Dragon Age 4 will officially be shown at The Game Awards this year. The ceremony will take place on December 10th, honoring all the best titles that have graced the video game industry this year. Numerous developers have already signed on to display new video game content during the event; Fall Guys, for instance, will be showing off a first look at its new season 3 content.

The latest entry in BioWare's beloved fantasy RPG franchise has had a long and troubled development period. BioWare has been laboring on the game for years behind the scenes, and franchise fans haven't had that much to go off of. Some even began to doubt the game was even being worked on until it made a surprise appearance at Gamescom earlier this year. Even this trailer was light on details regarding the story and gameplay; it was mostly an account from the developers on the process of game development, along with a scant few pieces of concept art. Fans did catch a few glimpses of some returning characters, though.

Hopefully players will get more info at the Game Awards. On Twitter earlier today, Geoff Keighley himself announced that the RPG will be displayed at the event. According to him, fans will be able to enjoy a "special look" at the RPG, though the exact details of what will be shown are unclear. Fans would certainly appreciate some gameplay footage after such a long wait. The executive producer is on record citing the difficulties raised by the COVID-19 stay at home orders in working on the game, but hopefully after this many months there's still something of value to share. Game Awards viewers will likely be disappointed by another concept art montage and more vague assurances from the developers.

On the other hand, recent news for the project hasn't been great. The aforementioned executive producer Mark Darrah left the company just yesterday, as did studio manager Casey Hudson. These departures were remarkably sudden, and left the fanbase quite shaken. Both employees have expressed certainty that the project is still in good hands, but it's definitely understandable for fans to be distressed. Hopefully the Game Awards' special look will help to assuage concerns about the fate of Dragon Age 4.

BioWare has made some big mistakes in the past. Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem stand out as chief among them. But the developer has big plans for the future. Dragon Age 4 is just one of the projects that BioWare has lined up; the company is also preparing a remastered bundle of the first three Mass Effect games, as well as a fifth title in that franchise to arrive sometime in the future. Hopefully these new games will help redeem the developer and bring it back to its roots as a prominent and iconic developer of excellent RPGs.
