Comedian Details How Gilmore Girls Would Respond To 2020 Pandemic

Comedian Mike DiCenzo perfectly details how every character on Gilmore Girls would respond to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, Gilmore Girls first premiered on the WB in 2000 and ran for a total of seven seasons. The series traced the life of mother-daughter duo Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) as they juggle everyday obstacles like boys, careers, and complicated family dynamics, courtesy of Lorelai's estranged parents Emily (Kelly Bishop) and Richard (Edward Herrmann). Over the years, Gilmore Girls cemented itself as one of the most beloved family dramedys of all time.

Gilmore Girls' popularity even led to a limited series revival at Netflix, which saw Sherman-Palladino return to end Lorelai and Rory's story on her terms (as she had no part in the seventh and final season). Titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, each episode focused on a new season and told viewers where the residents of Stars Hollow and beyond landed years after the show's original ending. Though A Year in the Life got mixed responses from fans, many were thrilled to be reunited with the fast-talking, pop culture-referencing Gilmore girls.

While currently airing television shows like Grey's Anatomy and Superstore are actively referencing the pandemic, there are some who wonder how characters from TV's past would respond to current events. Now fans won't have to debate how Lorelai, Rory, and the rest would cope with the pandemic, because comedian Mike DiCenzo came up with an entire thread detailing their responses. Both hilarious and spot-on, DiCenzo's headcanons could very well be actual canon. Check it out below.

Rory's COVID response is especially pointed, and one that many might agree with. While she began Gilmore Girls as a studious and responsible girl, Rory's characterization took quite the dive in later seasons, and especially in A Year in the Life. Between dropping out of school and stealing a yacht, it sadly isn't too far fetched to imagine Rory being a bit wild with Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry). She's the only one to get two responses depending on where in the show she falls.

The thread is almost enough to fill in for an additional season of Gilmore Girls, as each character has been perfectly described. There's been some question of whether A Year in the Life will get a follow-up, particularly since it ended on something of a cliffhanger. However, as it was how Sherman-Palladino always intended to end Gilmore Girlsit might not happen. At the very least, fans probably shouldn't expect anything to come about during the pandemic. After all, Stars Hollow is practicing social distancing!
