The Mandalorian: Which Avatar Element Would Each Main Character Bend?

The characters of The Mandalorian run the gamut from some of the scariest beings in the galaxy to some of the cutest, and they occupy both ends of the mystical Force spectrum. Every character has a distinct and unique personality, and given that literally everyone finds themselves in battle at some point, it's natural that they all have their own personal fighting styles as well.

So in a similar vein, it's interesting to imagine all of the characters of The Mandalorian crossing over to the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender. And if this cast of characters was transported into the world of anime, what bending style would each of them utilize?

10 Cobb Vanth - Fire

Cobb Vanth is no stranger to struggle, but throughout the many trials and tribulations he has had to face in life he's definitely proven a more than worthy opponent to whatever the world can throw at him.

It's also safe to say that he is insanely bold and willing to take on even the most dangerous tasks if he feels the need to, and that internal fighting spirit (along with his hard to control temper) makes him a perfect firebender.

9 Peli Motto - Earth

Peli Motto is a no nonsense mechanic with a heart of gold. She can seem a bit thorny on the outside, but her growing affection for Mando and especially for baby Yoda demonstrates her sincerity.

And although Peli doesn't go looking for fights, if one finds her she is practical yet ferocious. It seems like she'd be suited to earthbending best, since it's a powerful but sensible style.

8 Kuiil - Earth

Slow and steady wins the race, and some diligence and unshakable ethics can get anyone pretty far. That seems to be the philosophy of Kuiil at least.

Kuiil is a man of peace but also a man of honor, and sadly while that honor may have saved the Child, it got Kuill killed. His zen attitude and relentless pragmatism seems well matched to earthbending.

7 IG-11 - Water

Waterbending is a bending style of flexibility, and nothing and no one could represent flexibility more than IG-11. IG-11 was created as an incredibly powerful bounty hunting droid, but some expert reprogramming on the part of Kuiil turned IG-88 into the exact opposite of what he had been.

Despite being a protective droid, IG-11 didn't lose his ability to masterfully adapt to any circumstance, which is very waterbendy as well.

6 Boba Fett - Fire

Boba Fett may be one of the many clones of Jango Fett, but there is a reason that Jango was chosen as the ideal clone prototype.

In addition to being his father's genetic clone, he was also raised by one of the fiercest warriors in the galaxy, making Boba one of the most formidable bounty hunters in existence. Firebending seems like a perfect bending style for this legend.

5 Greef Karga - Air

It takes a lot to manage so many bounty hunters without getting killed yourself, so Greef Karga's success is a testament to his ability to charm people, think quickly, and accurately suss out which side will be the winning one.

Greef is a bit of a rebel who is willing to break the rules as well, so he seems best suited to an airbending style.

4 Moff Gideon - Fire

Moff Gideon has only had a brief appearance on The Mandalorian so far, but it wasn't hard to get a decent read on his personality and fighting style.

Gideon seems to operate as a hyper-aggressive strongman, and when he's facing off against someone, he wants to hit them as hard and fast as he possibly can. He could only be a firebender, a bending style that truly embraces the philosophy of might makes right.

3 Carasynthia Dune - Air

Airbenders are typically natural charmers who can be quite bold and are also very talented at thinking on their feet. And more importantly, they are not the type to follow the rules.

Cara Dune seems to fit the description of a typical airbender perfectly, she is a tough fighter who has a lot of natural sway with people, and she clearly has no regard for any rules that she doesn't agree with or want to abide by.

2 The Child - Air

Despite being half a century old, baby Yoda is still just a baby, and despite the fact that he can't easily talk or communicate, he is exceptional at winning over pretty much every person that he comes into contact with.

The child also seems to be a natural free spirit, and he seems to be living his best life when things are getting wild. He'd probably be best suited to airbending.

1 Din Djarin - Water

Mando himself could easily fit into nearly every type of element bending, and as a true warrior, it might seem on the surface like firebending would be the most natural match.

However, Din Djarin is an exceptional bounty hunter and fighter, and it seems like his greatest strength is his ability to adapt. The fact that Din always figures out how to go with the flow and make whatever situation he encounters work to his advantage makes him a better waterbender.
