It's going to be a family affair on the next season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, with OG cast member Kyle Richards being joined by her older sister, Kathy Hilton. Kathy is set to join the show as a friend of the housewives, and reports are now surfacing about filming. It's said that Kyle and Kathy are at odds with each other on set and have been having a "clash of egos."
Kyle is an OG on RHOBH, but starring alongside her sisters is nothing new for her. She started on the show in season one along with her sister, Kim Richards. The sibling's feud was captured by cameras and even included a fight on air. Kim went on to exit the show after five seasons and an infamous showdown with Lisa Rinna. Their older sister, Kathy, would periodically make guest appearances on the show, including showing off her fashion line. However, this summer it was confirmed that Kathy signed on to join the cast more regularly as a friend of the show. The actress, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and mother to Paris and Nicole Hilton has more than enough storylines for viewers to indulge in.
But things are reportedly off to a rocky start between Kyle and Kathy. “There’s definitely been a clash of egos while filming,” an insider dished to Life & Style. According to the source, Kyle is intimidated by her older sister's outgoing personality and likeability. “Kathy is a big personality and Kyle is petrified she’ll try to steal her thunder," the source shared. "The sibling rivalry is already intense and it’s bound to get worse!” RHOBH fans are aware of Kyle and Kathy's shaky history. The two sisters didn't speak for many years after Kathy cut Kyle off over her show based on their childhood. During the season eight reunion, Kyle revealed she had not spoken to her sister in months.
By the following year, Kathy was asked about their relationship and confirmed there was no bad blood. In the early days of Kyle and Kim's reign on the show, Kathy expressed her disappointment with her sisters' fighting on reality television. Additionally, it has said that there's some fear about Kathy bringing her famous daughters on for guest appearances. “Kyle adores her nieces, but she feels like Paris and Nicky can help increase Kathy’s popularity, especially if they make a lot of appearances on the show,” the insider added. “She’s scared that the Hiltons will push her out of the spotlight.”
While this is all hearsay and speculation, it's enough to have fans locked in when season 11 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premieres in 2021.
