Jenni "JWoww" Farley and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino had a brief relationship together while filming Jersey Shore season 1, which wasn't included in the show, and new details about that romance have surfaced.
Fans might remember the catchphrase, “never fall in love at the Jersey Shore”. Nearly ten years later, it's clear that none of the Jersey Shore cast members listened to this piece of advice. The most unforgettable relationship from the original reality show was between Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola. Other members of the cast had subtle romances; some of those dalliances were shown on Jersey Shore and some weren't. Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio Jr. and JWoww had a brief fling early on in Jersey Shore season 1. In addition, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Mike had an ongoing romance which was showcased during a steamy hot tub scene. After Mike, Snooki had a fling with Vinny Guadagnino, which was frequently featured in later seasons of the original show. One of the lesser-known relationships was between JWoww and The Situation. It never made the cut in the first season, and the reason why was explained by the former producer of Jersey Shore.
According to Cheat Sheet, a fan asked the previous producer of Jersey Shore if Jenni and Mike’s romance was true in the first season and the response was yes. In a Reddit post, the fan explained their romantic dynamic, “Originally, Jenni and Mike just made out but Jenni definitely pursued him more when she was intoxicated.” In addition, Jenni’s relationship with Mike “is what fueled the punch in the mouth”. It was also reported that JWoww felt jealousy towards Sammi. Before Sweetheart began dating Ronnie, she was pursued by Mike. Their romance ended quickly, which was demonstrated during the first few episodes of Jersey Shore. “Sober Jenni was not interested in Mike and Mike didn’t care either way,” the producer explained. Things only got out of hand when they were under the influence. “The way Mike pursued Sam was not the way he pursued Jenni,” the producer continued. “Jenni was just on the back burner and Jenni didn’t like that.” The producer added that Farley pursued Sorrentino because, “she thought maybe Mike would eventually grow to like her”. The Situation wasn’t interested in JWoww because she was dating Tom Lippolis at the time.“Jenni continued to bring up Tom, which made Mike kind of back off and go back to Sam,” the producer said.
As with many reality shows, there is a broad storyline that is prevalent throughout the show. The former Jersey Shore producer mentioned that Jenni and Mike’s romance didn’t fit the storyline they had for season one. “We decide to leave certain stories out because we work on a storyline that revolves around MTV/VH1, the viewers, marketing and the brand of 495 Productions,” the producer explained. He added: “It would have gotten too complicated too early on and would have encouraged viewers to watch something else.” Despite this fact, many fans (and the former producer) wished Sorrentino and Farley’s romance was included in Jersey Shore season 1.
Many fans of Jersey Shore had an inkling about the romance between JWoww and The Situation. Hearing the whole story from the previous producer cleared up any speculation. It’s odd to reminisce about relationships that happened on the show because the cast members are in a completely different place now. A decade has passed since the debut of Jersey Shore and most of the crew has settled down with a significant other.
