Rosie Perez, known for her roles in Pineapple Express, Birds of Prey, and the television series The Flight Attendant, revealed that the Big Mouth spinoff show Human Resources is very obscene. Big Mouth was created by Nick Kroll and follows a group of young teenagers as they start to experience puberty, giving a very forward yet hilarious take on sex, hormones, and growing up. The spinoff has been confirmed to take place in the same world as Big Mouth but will instead follow around the hormone monsters that have plagued the minds and emotions of the young characters from the original show.
In an interview with UPROXX, Perez revealed that she was going to be a voice actor on the animated series Human Resources, stating that the show was “very foul, very obscene.” Due to being on lockdown in New York City because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Perez turned her walk-in closet into a recording studio, taking all the “comforters in the house and nail[ing] them all around” in order to insulate her newfound home studio. She then stated:
I’m sitting on the floor with headphones and looking at my laptop and speaking into a mic that they sent over. And I go, “This is bizarre.” So bizarre, but a blessing. It’s a blessing.
Though Perez’s comments come off as if she is ragging on the spinoff by calling it foul and obscene, it seems more like she’s just describing what many fans expect from the Big Mouth creators. The original show, which will air its fourth season December 4 on Netflix, has already built a large cult following that will most likely watch the spinoff for an even more raunchy, adult version of the show. Netflix also recently released a hilarious trailer titled “Guided Meditation with Maury the Hormone Monster” to build anticipation for not only the upcoming Big Mouth season but also for what’s to come next for the little puberty creatures. Two birds, one stone.
