One of the highlights from Kalani Faagata and Auselu Pulaa’s relationship on 90 Day Fiancé will always be his airport dance. It was probably the first time that many TLC fans had witness Asuelu’s Samoan Slap Dance, and everyone was instantly in love. Now that the couple is done with their 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? stint, Kalani, and Asuelu are still trying to make things work. And it looks like Asuelu is contributing to the cause by showing off what he does best – dance!
Kalani, 32, and Asuelu, 24, started off their journey on 90 Day Fiancé after meeting and falling in love at a resort in his native Samoa. A bit of sweet semi-stalking led the couple to get pregnant, after which Asuelu soon landed in America. However, the tensions soon rose as Asuelu was not really a fan favorite with Kalani’s family as he was with the TLC show’s viewers. Financial troubles and the birth of a second baby later, Kalani and Asuelu almost called things off. And with Asuelu’s Samoan family being the cause behind more of their fights on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? the couple somehow sailed through even after a high-tension Tell-All. Asuelu left his job of handing out frozen treats and took up a gig that really allowed him to flaunt his flair. And since landing the job of a Samoan dancer at a Polynesian entertainment company, the 90 Day Fiancé star is leaving no moment where he doesn’t shimmy on screen for his followers, pass by.
The best of the best 90 Day Fiancé star has been taking his TikTok and Instagram by storm by sharing dance challenge style videos for his followers to see. And if the comments on Asuelu’s posts are any indication, fans are loving what they see. The Samoan star’s island-style dance stays constant in the clips, where he takes up trending challenges and makes them his own. To make things better, Asuelu is often joined by Kalani and his babies, Oliver and Keneti. While the boys don’t make an appearance in the 90 Day Fiancé celeb’s latest video, Asuelu steals the show with his “little entertainment to you all.”
The self-proclaimed “#booholemaster” who’s dressed up in a skimpy sarong does his rendition of the fa'ataupati with his unique tattoos on display. The indigenous dance that Asuelu excels in was developed in Samoa in the 19th century and is primarily performed by males. Wearing his traditional red ula fala necklace made from the pandanus fruit, the video has Asuelu receive rave reviews from his IG followers, ranging from “I just bet your wife NEVER gets bored,” to “love watching you dance!!!” However, it’s also Asuelu’s sarong that seems to have stressed most fans out with them commenting, “Can someone give that sarong a hand for staying up the whole time?!”
Interestingly, a few of the 90 Day Fiancé star’s followers are also interested in attending Asuelu’s dance classes. “You should do a live Zoom dance class… I will be the first to join,” writes a fan, with an idea that might really help further Asuelu’s dance career. While 90 Day Fiancé did shine a bring spotlight on his strained storyline with wife Kalani, it also did help bring his culture and art into the limelight. Asuelu using this fame to reach to an audience that’s willing to learn and pay for the reality TV star’s dance classes could surely reap the richest results. Could TLC themselves can take a page out of David Toborowsky and Annie Suwan’s book to give Asuelu and Kalani their own dance-based spinoff?
