90 Day Fiancé: Big Ed Faces Backlash After Insensitive Veterans Day IG Post

Big Ed Brown of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days is again facing backlash for his online clothing line. This time, fans dragged Ed after a Veterans Day Instagram post promoted his clothing brand. Fans criticized the 54-year-old reality star for pretending to honor the federal holiday as a way to sell his merchandise.

Ed launched his clothing brand, BigEd Wear, after gaining fame for his antics on 90 Day Fiancé. The brand not only features apparel and costumes, but also cell phone accessories, decals, and home and living merchandise. Ed took advantage of his newfound celebrity status by branding his line with a digital version of his face that appears on nearly all his products. The online shop includes links to Ed’s blog, YouTube channel, Cameo account, and more. Ed encourages shoppers to take the “50 Cent Challenge” by posting videos of themselves doing various fitness exercises and donating at least $0.50 to Special Compass Power Buddies, a non-profit focused on athletic events for differently-abled people. Although Ed advocates for people with disabilities on his merchandise webpage, many of his 453,000 Instagram followers don’t agree with his methods for promoting his apparel.

On Veterans Day 2020, Ed posted a black, white, and gray image of the American flag on Instagram overlaid with blocky text that read, “VETERANS THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.” At first glance, the star of 90 Day Fiancé appears to honor persons who have served in the United States Armed Forces. But fans quickly noticed the merchandise tag on the photo and began to drag Ed in his comments section. One fan wrote, “What the hell dawg you f*cking used this day to promote ur merch? Can’t save yo self now 💀💀💀.” Another fan agreed, saying, “Really? This dude just pretended to honor veterans so he could promote/tag his sh*tty merch? 🤡 🗑.” Still another fan accused Ed of being rude and informed him of the unspoken protocol for posting to social media on days like Veterans Day. The fan wrote, “Why would you do this this is considered rude to advertise your merch on a day like this it’s like not posting black on blackout tuesday.” See Big Ed's full Veteran's Day post below:

It appears Ed removed the tag since being dragged by fans. The link for BigEd Wear is no longer tagged on the post. A few days before his Veteran's Day pic, Ed promoted his “$5.00 & Below” deals for Black Friday. Fans criticized the price of his merchandise with comments like, “$87 for a bobblehead? 😳.” One remarked,  “I thought this was a Five and Below ad😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.”

It seems some fans have been dragging Ed since the announcement of his new clothing line. A fan expressed they'd "rather buy gas station sushi while I have coronabefore purchasing BigEd Wear. Criticism is nothing new for Ed, but some fans seem to be more upset about him promoting his products on Veterans Day than about the actual merchandise itself. A fan commented, “I respected it until I realized you took it as a opportunity to promote your branding. Not cool lil ed.” Fans of the 90 Day Fiancé star clearly have mixed feelings about his clothing brand altogether, and the Veteran's Day post only added fuel to the fire.
