Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens is perfect for fans of American Horror Story who love funny, campy horror. Unfortunately, Scream Queens only aired for two seasons, but there are plenty of smart and entertaining episodes to catch up on. It's the kind of show that actually wraps up its main mystery in the season finale, while allowing for lots of fabulous outfits and witty quotes along the way.
Emma Roberts is perfect as Chanel Oberlin, the most beautiful and popular student at Wallace University. While the show is true to its name and there are many moments that make viewers scream, other scenes are beyond hilarious.
10 Scary: The Red Devil Kills Chanel #2
Ariana Grande played Chanel #2 on Scream Queens and it was exciting for fans to see the singer on a TV show. Unfortunately, she wasn't long for the Scream Queens world, as she was killed by the Red Devil in the pilot.
This was one of the scariest moments on the show as viewers were just getting used to the world of Wallace University and the horror that was taking place on campus. Chanel #2's death was unexpected and there was definitely nothing funny about it.
9 Funny: How Chanel Celebrates Halloween
Many people celebrate Halloween by watching movies that take place on the spooky day; Chanel Oberlin, the Queen Bee at Wallace, celebrates something called Chanel-O-Ween.
This is a play on Swiftmas, the holiday that Taylor Swift celebrates. Chanel mails her fans presents and as she explains, "I am a future network news anchor who's super classy and has almost no fat on my body." Along with the presents, which are pretty gross (a severed leg is one example), Chanel writes insulting letters to her fans. Of course, they love it and a cheesy montage video follows of her fans opening the gifts and crying tears of happiness.
8 Scary: Gigi's Head Is On The Thanksgiving Table
While many sitcoms have funny Thanksgiving episodes, that's not the case for season 1 of Scream Queens.
Gigi's head is on the holiday table in "Thanksgiving," which is a terrifying image and also a creative way of announcing her death to the other characters. This isn't exactly what anyone wants to see when they're getting ready to enjoy a nice meal...
7 Funny: Chanel Obsesses Over The PSL
Many people have a super long Starbucks order, and Chanel Oberlin totally takes the cake (or the PSL) when it comes to what she wants from her local coffee shop.
In the pilot, she obsesses over an extra-hot latte, and she complains to the barista. She says, "I'm sorry, did I enter a wormhole to a universe where this coffeehouse does not possess the technology to heat my favorite autumnal tradition to 210 degrees? I like my pumpkin spice lattes extra hot, so please comply with my request." The barista answers that "extra hot is 170 degrees" and Chanel gets really upset. She hilarious replies, "I'm sorry, does your job description entail arguing with your customers, thereby delaying the moment at which they receive the irresistible nutmeggy sweetness of the extra hot, no foam, pumpkin spice latte they've been thinking about all day? I mean, God!"
6 Scary: Hester Is Revealed As The Season 1 Killer
Another scary Scream Queens scene is in the episode "The Final Girl(s)" when Hester is revealed as the killer. Hester was in an asylum as a child and wanted to hurt everyone who made sure that she couldn't be with her mom.
Lea Michele is best known for portraying Rachel Berry (and singing a lot) on Glee and she also did a great job portraying this creepy character.
5 Funny: Chad Dies During His Wedding To Chanel
Glen Powell's Scream Queens character, Chad, is definitely hilarious... albeit unintentionally.
The season 2 episode "Handidates" finds Chad and Chanel getting married, which is already a silly concept as there is no couple who is more self-centered. Chad dies when he's literally at the altar, and it's a truly humorous scene. Viewers can't help but laugh at the corny tone and melodramatic nature of this scene, as Chanel can't believe that she would fall on such bad luck.
4 Scary: Dean Munsch Says She Has An Illness With No Cure
Jamie Lee Curtis played Dean Cathy Munsch on the show and she has a terrifying scene in the second season.
She says that she has an illness with no cure, and while there are always moments of humor with this character, as she can't really be taken seriously, it's still a scary thing to think about. No one is quite sure what will happen to Munsch and how her illness relates to the overall season 2 mystery, and it's very unsettling to think about.
3 Funny: The Sorority Has To Let Any Student Be A Pledge
Right away, viewers were introduced to the Chanels, the sorority girls at Wallace University who are kind of like the Plastics in Mean Girls. While they don't dress exactly alike, they do sound really ditzy when they speak, and they aren't very nice to one another.
With the news that the sorority has to let anyone be a pledge, as that is more inclusive, the Chanels totally freak out. This is the worst thing that they could ever imagine, and it's hilarious to watch.
2 Scary: The Green Meanie Chases The Chanels
Abigail Breslin has been in many great movies and it was fun to watch her on a TV show as one of the Chanels. The other is played by Billie Lourd.
The season 2 episode "Lovin the D" has a scary scene as the Chanels are chased by the Green Meanie, the show's second masked killer after season 1's the Red Devil. This is a classic horror movie scene and viewers aren't sure what is going to happen.
1 Funny: Chad Says His "Secret Shame" Is Lactose Intolerance
In season 1, Chad reveals his "secret shame," and it's a hilarious scene as he's describing a food allergy that, of course, isn't anything to worry about at all.
When he makes his confession, fans of the show just have to smile as he's every bit as ditzy as his main love interest, Chanel Oberlin.
