Kanye West Releases First 2020 Presidential Campaign Ad

Kanye West, the husband of Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian, is going full throttle with his bid for the presidency. The rap/fashion mogul released his official campaign ad asking to be written in as president in the 2020 election.

Many didn't think Kanye was serious when he announced his presidential bid back in July. The announcement came one year after the Yeezy founder first started teasing his desire to become President of the United States. After announcing his campaign, he held one rally in South Carolina back in August that took an awkward turn. While speaking on abortion, Kanye became an emotional mess before revealing he and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, considered ending her first pregnancy with their eldest child, North West. Kanye's shocking reveal led to tension in his marriage that the famous couple has been working through. The "Stronger" rapper has continued to campaign on Twitter and successfully landed a place on the ballot in some states. He is listed as a vice-presidential running mate within the American Independent Party. But Kanye is asking his supporters to write him in as president.

Now, ahead of election day, the Yeezus rapper released his first presidential campaign ad. Kanye tweeted out the ad on Monday morning. Standing in front of a black and white American flag, the Grammy award-winning rapper spoke on the freedom of religion and the importance of family. "America. What is America’s destiny," Kanye said at the start of the video. "What is best for our nation? Our people? What is just, true justice,” he asked. The 43-year-old appeared more serious in tone and looked off to the side of the camera's view before touching on unity. “We have to think about all these things together as a people.” See the ad for yourself below:

Since announcing his campaign, Kanye has touched on his "2020 vision." He appeared to explain this more in the campaign ad. “To contemplate our future, to live up to our dream, we must have vision," the presidential hopeful declared before directing his message to faith. "We as a people will revive our nation’s commitment to faith, to what our Constitution calls the free exercise of religion, including, of course, prayer. Through prayer, faith can be restored,” he said.

He then took a more traditional presidential stance while closing out his ad with a message on the importance of family.  “Our fellow Americans... We will build a stronger country by building stronger families. Families are the building blocks of society, of a nation." Kanye stayed true to his focus on religion with his closing words in the 82-second spot. "By turning to faith, we will be the kind of nation, the kind of people God intends us to be.”
