iPhone 12 & iPhone 12 mini Color & Storage Options Explained

With Apple having now announced the iPhone 12 series, there are a variety of new color and storage options to choose from. The iPhone 12 series has a lot to offer, including an edge-to-edge Super Retina XDR display and support for MagSafe wireless chargers and cases. Once the choice between the standard iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini is made, customers then have the choose between five aluminum finishes and three storage options.

Apple's October 13 ‘Hi, Speed’ event not only introduced four new iPhone 12 models, but also MagSafe cases, wallets, and chargers. These products are magnetic and either assist with wireless charging or make it easier to attach a case to the phone. Apple also announced a new HomePod mini smart speaker. Originally, it had been expected that Apple would launch the iPhone 12 line during its September event, but the company opted to use that occasion to highlight its new Apple Watch and iPad options.

The iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini come in five colors -- blue, green, black, white, and (PRODUCT)RED. This latter color option offers an opportunity for the buyer to give back. For example, through December 31, Apple is partnering with Red to donate eligible proceeds to the Global Fund non-profit organization. Global Fund provides support for HIV/AIDS programs in Africa and is currently also providing COVID-19 relief.

The iPhone 12 will be available for pre-order on October 16, with the iPhone 12 mini available next month, on November 6. Which storage the customer chooses will impact the price with the choice between 64GB, 128GB and 256GB on offer. For those opting for the 64GB model, the iPhone 12 starts at $799 or $33.29 per month over 24 months. For the 128GB version, the price goes up to $849, or $35.37 per month. Lastly, the 256GB iPhone 12 is priced at $949 or $39.54 per month. The iPhone 12 mini starts at $699, or $29.12 per month for 24 months, for the 64GB storage option. Those upgrading to the 128GB iPhone 12 mini will see the price rise to $749 or $31.20 per month, and if opting for the 256GB storage option, the price climbs to $849, or $35.37 per month.

Both the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini come in the same five colors, so there are no differences in this respect between the two devices. In each color, the phone has a glass back and an aluminum finish. This seems to give the phone a glossy look and allows for the MagSafe accessories to attach easily to the back of the phone. If none of these colors appeal, then there is the option of going with the iPhone 12 Pro or Pro Max, as both of Apple's Pro models come in four different colors to the standard iPhone 12 and mini.
