Dancing With the Stars: Kim Kardashian Highlights From Season 7

Shortly after her famous family debuted their reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, in 2007, Kim Kardashian appeared on Dancing With the Stars season 7 the following year. Although her appearance was short-lived and she failed to take home the famed Mirrorball Trophy, she had some memorable moments on the show.

Kim Kardashian was paired with professional dancer Mark Ballas, who was just coming off his first Mirrorball championship with professional ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi. Although the twosome tried their best to master the dances, Kardashian had trouble keeping up with the beat and Ballas ended up stepping in for her often to try and distract the judges. Kardashian was the third contestant to be eliminated on the show, putting her in 11th place overall. She finished well behind retired NFL star Warren Sapp, senior citizen Cloris Leachman, and celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito.

Before she was eliminated, Kardashian performed three dances in total, beginning with the Foxtrot, which the KUWTK star and partner Ballas performed to “The Pink Panther” theme. Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli slapped her with scores of 6, 7, and 6 out of 10 each, respectively. Throughout her performances, Kardashian was critiqued by the judges for her lack of confidence on the dance floor and her inability to properly shake that infamous booty of hers. “Kim, you’re gorgeous but you drive me crazy,” said judge Tonioli while revealing his thoughts about her Mambo performance to “Baby Got Back”. Goodman agreed. “Mark was over-dancing to compensate and the whole thing lacked a bit of balance,” he said.

Kardashian’s final dance was what ultimately lead to her elimination. Kardashian and Ballas performed the Rumba to “You Give Me Something,” which revealed a slow and slightly awkward experience for the audience to watch. After receiving a total score of 17 for their Mambo performance, the duo bid farewell to the ballroom on the five-year anniversary of Kim’s father’s death. “I just know he’s really happy and watching over me and I made him proud,” Kim told hosts Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris of her father Robert Kardashian, before taking the stage for a final dance. The season’s eventual winner was actress Brooke Burke-Charvet, who went on to co-host the show from 2010–13. But that wasn’t the end of the Kardashian family’s time on DWTS. Kim’s little brother Rob Kardashian ended up joining the show three years later. Alongside partner Cheryl Burke, Rob came in second place.

Years later on an episode of KUWTK, Kim joked about her “awful” dancing skills. Meanwhile, former partner Ballas agreed she wasn’t the best on the dance floor. Though the pair became great friends, Ballas wasn't surprised Kardashian didn't make it far on the show.
