Geoffrey Thorne, one of the producers on Starz's Power Book II: Ghost, confirms he once wrote a pilot for an Agents of SHIELD spin-off starring Adrianne Palicki's Mockingbird. In the comics, Barbara "Bobbi" Morse is a highly-trained SHIELD agent, a superhero, and, briefly, Hawkeye's wife. She was introduced to Agents of SHIELD in season 2, with Palicki first appearing in a guest role. Palicki was later upgraded to a series regular, and while her Bobbi retained her SHIELD connections, her ex-husband was instead Lance Hunter (Nick Blood).
Bobbi quickly became a fan favorite character, which led to Marvel and ABC developing a spin-off for her and Hunter. Titled Marvel's Most Wanted, the show would've focused on Bobbi and Hunter's adventures on the run. Both Palicki and Blood exited Agents of SHIELD in season 3 for the spin-off, but ABC opted to not pick it up. Much to the disappointment of fans, Bobbi didn't return to Agents of SHIELD, even for the final season (Hunter, meanwhile, briefly appeared in season 5). As a result, fans have felt that Bobbi's MCU potential was cut short.
Following a renewed interest among fans for a new project centered on Bobbi, Thorne hopped on social media to share something rather tantalizing: He once wrote a Mockingbird pilot, one that was entirely separate from Marvel's Most Wanted. "What if I'd ALREADY written a pilot for this actor to play this character? (hint: it's not hypothetical)," Thorne said, attaching pictures of Palicki and Mockingbird in the process. Fans immediately shared their excitement, and Palicki herself seemed to confirm the pilot's existence with a GIF of Bobbi. Thorne also shared a tidbit from the pilot, which you can see down below.
Undoubtedly, there's a lot more about Bobbi that can be explored within the MCU. She was only on Agents of SHIELD for about a season and a half, leaving a lot of her life up to the imagination. Much like Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), it would be easy to integrate Bobbi into a future MCU project, whether it's through a Disney+ show (like Palicki previously expressed interest in) or a film. Hawkeye has his own Disney+ show on the horizon that could provide an opportunity to introduce Mockingbird, though his and Bobbi's story would have to be a bit different.
While it seems unlikely that Thorne's pilot will ever get made, the mere idea of it is an exciting prospect for fans, and Thorne did express interest in having it happen in the future if the opportunity arose. There's a real interest among Agents of SHIELD fans for more stories involving Mockingbird, and it would be a shame if they were never explored. As of right now, Palicki is busy with her series The Orville, and Marvel hasn't indicated they have more plans for Mockingbird. However, when it comes to the MCU, anything is possible.
