10 Most Cringeworthy Characters On Full House | ScreenRant

Despite having only run from 1987 to 1995, the sitcom Full House is still loved and well-remembered by many. It incorporated the usual funny sitcom setups with a family as the focus, with a relatively simple, and occasionally slightly cringe-worthy script.

However, many would argue that it was the cringe which made the show, and that each of the characters had something about them which was over-the-top and slightly cheesy.

Reminiscing on these ten Full House characters its clear why they added their own 'cringe factor' to the show which stole (and continues to steal), so many hearts.

10 Stephanie Tanner

Cute as a button, Stephanie Tanner is also slightly frustrating and is the proverbial annoying little sister (from D.J's perspective, at least). She has a host of catchphrases which fans of the show will still remember, years after the series last aired: 'How rude!' and 'Pin a rose on your nose!' Cute but a little cringe-worthy at times.

She can also be a blabber mouth at times and has a habit of reading D.J's diary.

9 Joey Gladstone

As much as viewers love Joey Gladstone, at times his Hawaiian shirt obsessions might seem a little over-the-top. Joey's second name is Alvin, like the cartoon chipmunk, and this is completely appropriate since he is a child at heart. He is also a stand-up comedian, and has a ventriloquism doll, Mr. Woodchuck. In his school days, Joey was his school's mascot, an oyster called Ollie. It's these cheesy antics which earn him the respect of viewers.

8 Irene Katsopolis

This warm, bubbly personality is in fact Irene Katsopolis, better known as Uncle Jesse's mother. She might not be completely cringeworthy in viewers' eyes, however, it's more than likely that she has left Jesse cringing more often than not. Which son wouldn't cringe when his mother grabbed at other people's 'tushies'? To add to her cringe-worthiness, Irene also constantly reminds the other characters about how Jesse was as a little boy.

7 Danny Tanner

He's the proverbial 'good guy', with a lesson and inspiring story for everything. How he would love to stop his little girls from growing older. Audiences will remember him as the dad who sits down with his girls at the end of each show and tells them a tale, aimed at strengthening their morals. He also likes to clean a lot, and his motto is, 'Clean is good, dirt is bad'.

6 Kimmy Gibbler

Kimmy Gibbler's favorite pastime in the series seems to be annoying the Tanner family. Unfortunately for the Tanner family, who are visibly not so keen about her being there, she drops by their home fairly often.

She complains a lot, and gives everyone nicknames, for example, Mr. T and Hairboy, for Mr. Tanner and Uncle Jesse respectively.

5 Jesse Katsopolis

Has anyone ever loved his hair more than Uncle Jesse, who is fondly known as Hairboy by D.J's best friend Kimmy Gibbler? To keep his hair looking so good (and it does look good), he uses special products, and heaven forbid anyone touch his hair and mess it up! This might be cringe-worthy at times but Uncle Jesse is good looking enough to pull it off - and still remain completely loved by fans.

4 Nick Katsopolis

Nick Katsopolis is Jesse's father. Like his son, he is completely obsessed with Elvis Presley and completely loves the musician, to the point of obsessiveness. It's not that Elvis Presley is cringeworthy. Rather, than those who try to emulate the king of rock n roll can at times be cringeworthy and Nick Katsopolis is one such character on Full House. His favorite TV series is also The Beverly Hillbillies, and he has his own bug exterminator business.

3 Gia Mahan

This is Stephanie Tanner's bestie, though they didn't start out as best friends. In fact, initially Stephanie couldn't stand Gia.

Gia is a bit of a rebel and Stephanie once magnified her report card and stuck it on the notice board. He most cringe-worthy habit is her tendency to roll her eyes (which she does frequently). Something in her attitude resonates with the defiant Stephanie and they eventually become firm friends.

2 Michelle Tanner

One could argue that Michelle is too small and too cute to have any element of cringe resident in her persona, however, her antics are at times over-the-top. Her favorite expressions are, 'You got it, dude!' and 'Puh-lease', as well as 'You're in big trouble, mister!' These same expressions are accompanied by hand gestures, and often a cute pout.

1 D.J. Tanner

As much as viewers love her, D.J. Tanner can at times be a little over-the-top responsible. She's the typical big sister, scared of risks and a little uptight. Still, she is a good influence to have on board for Michelle and Stephanie Tanner. At times D.J.'s responsible behavior and sensitivity, in terms of doing what is right, may have something of a cringe-factor to it. However, it's these same qualities that earn her the respect of her fans, and make her a calming, beautiful presence in the Full House household.
