Netflix's Million Dollar Beach House was released a few days back and has already received so much attention from the audience. It seems like this new show will be a strong competitor to its rival, Selling Sunset. So, is the Selling Sunset cast feeling intimidated? Let's see what Jason Oppenheim, the Oppenheim Group owner, has to say about it.
Netflix has come up with two real estate based reality TV series one after another. Selling Sunset season 3 released on August 7, just before Million Dollar Beach House, which premiered on August 26th. So, it is obvious that viewers would want to compare the series. On the surface, both the shows might seem quite similar, as they feature the same industry. But in reality, the execution of them is very different. In Selling Sunset, viewers get to watch the glamorous lives of real estate agents of Los Angeles. These ladies are drop-dead gorgeous and leave no opportunity to create drama untaken. When they are not fighting or backbiting, they indulge in some real estate. On the contrary, Million Dollar Beach House heavily focuses on selling uber-expensive properties and the nitty-gritty involved in it. There will be heated arguments between the realtors, but that won't take center stage.
Undoubtedly, Million Dollar Beach House can come across as a huge competitor to Selling Sunset. But, Jason Oppenheim isn't worried about his opponent at all. While talking to Metro in an interview, he revealed his first reaction. The 43-year-old broker feels that the new show "is a positive." He added, "All the real estate shows compliment and helps support one another, it creates publicity and attention to our profession so I think it's all good."
Jason, yet again, proves that he is a really smart businessman. He is thinking about the bigger picture of how the whole industry would be benefited from these shows. Plus, the Netflix star understands that reality TV is a side gig for him, and his main source of income comes from selling million-dollar listings.
But, it is doubtful if all the other Selling Sunset stars would feel the same. Christine Quinn would no doubt have some catty comments to make about it—that's why the fans love her, after all. As of now, there's no update on Million Dollar Beach House season 2. However, after the major hit of Selling Sunset season 3, there are speculations that it has been renewed for its fourth season.
Selling Sunset season 3 is available to watch on Netflix.
