Selling Sunset: Christine Details Harrowing Childhood During Twitter Tirade

Christine Quinn of Selling Sunset discussed dropping out of school to care for her sick mother in a Twitter argument. With this summer's release of season three, Netflix's real estate reality show has launched its agents into the stratosphere of stardom, which also comes with increased scrutiny.

Selling Sunset follows the personal lives and career highlights of agents from The Oppenheim Group, who sell million-dollar listings to the Los Angeles elite. Since season one, Christine has established herself as the ultimate villain, known for her blunt retorts, habit of starting drama, and high-fashion demeanor. She and co-workers Davina Potratz and Heather Rae Young are the mean girls who often find themselves at odds with the opposing clique led by Chrishell Stause. Season three has sparked a frenzy on social media because of its in-depth coverage of Chrishell's divorce from actor Justin Hartley. Ironically, Christine was planning her own gothic barbie wedding this season, but her storyline was put on the back burner. Since the season's release, all of the Selling Sunset cast have increased recognition and social media attention. Christine reached one million Instagram followers, but that increased fame is blighted by cyber-bullying from fans who find her on-screen persona unbearable.

Christine has received plenty of backlash for her harsh treatment of fellow agents and co-stars, but she hasn't gotten as personal in her response as she did with a Twitter user recently. As reported by Metro, a user tweeted, "#SellingSunset if I hear Christine say “her and I” one more time, I may scream! If you want to sound educated and smart, Christine, say “she and I”! Christine, having taken the insult personally, responded,  "I actually didn’t go to college because my family couldn’t even afford to food growing up. So I just decided to chase my dreams and “wing” my language as I had to drop out of school in the 8th grade to take care of my mom who was dying from cancer. But thanks for your concern!"

Fans of Christine quickly came to her defense, chastising the woman who attacked the realtor for a simple slip in grammar usage. One user was moved by Christine's honesty, and offered her emotional support for being vulnerable with her followers, as shown in the tweet below:

Christine has discussed her mother's medical issues with media outlets before, but has yet to be this open and direct on social media, especially in response to those that sling mud her way. Christine's mother developed cancer twice in her early 40s and still suffers from Lupus, Raynaud's, arthritis, and a physical disability. Her mother also underwent heart surgery before Christine's wedding. Outside references to being a self-made woman, Christine rarely, if ever, mentions her mother or upbringing in Selling Sunset.

From a quick look at Christine's designer wardrobe and red bottom heels, few would assume that her childhood was riddled with stress and hardships. Despite dropping out of school in eighth grade, Christine has overcome her troubled upbringing to become a strong, refined woman with enviable sensibilities. She has come a long way from her humble beginnings, but the Selling Sunset star doesn't want to forget where she came from, and won't let her followers forget either.
