Prison Break: 5 Times Michael Scofield Saved Lincoln (& 5 Times Lincoln Saved Him)

Prison Break is all about how far a man will go to save those he loves. For Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), the answer is, anywhere, especially where Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is concerned. Giving up a booming career as a structural engineer to become a convict and break your brother out of prison is nothing but love.

Five seasons of Michael and Lincoln on Fox have created an immortal brotherhood that has revolutionized crime drama as we knew it. While Lincoln's muscle doesn't save the day as many times as his genius brother, he always puts in his best effort whenever Michael needs it. Here are some unforgettable instances of the brothers saving each other.

10 Michael: Breaking Out Of Fox River

Lincoln wasn't guilty of killing Terrence Steadman, but he wasn't that innocent either. He had taken the wrong path along the way and maybe deserved to serve some time for his crimes but not to die, and Michael just wouldn't let it happen.

Lincoln had powerful enemies who would have killed him in prison long before his scheduled execution, but thanks to his brother, father, and ex-girlfriend, he survived long enough to be broken out of prison. Breaking out of Fox River started a string of events that hurt the family beyond imagination, but Lincoln got to live all thanks to his little brother.

9 Lincoln: Removing The Bullets From Nika's Gun

Nika (Holly Valance) is one of those characters we hoped would last longer than she did on the show, but her contribution to Scofield's adventures was priceless. After helping Scofield get out of prison and also treating an injured Lincoln, Scofield's trust in her seemed endless.

When she finally chose the reward money over loyalty to him, it felt like the end of the road for the brothers. Lincoln isn't always the smart one, but in this case, he was the only one who saw it coming. The surprise on Nika's face as she pulled the trigger on an empty chamber was just so relieving.

8 Michael: Framing Whistler For The Museum Theft

James Whistler never cared about Michael Scofield despite the relentless effort he put in to break him out of Sona even after losing Sarah. Their brief stalemate after breaking out of Sona proved that Whistler was the enemy and was willing to choose the company over both Scofield and Sofia, who had given up so much to save him.

Death is what awaited Michael and Lincoln if they let Whistler and Gretchen Morgan out of the museum without an incidence that day—framing Whistler for stealing saved them all but, most especially, Lincoln, who had developed bad blood with both Morgan and Whistler.

7 Lincoln: The Data Center

Sneaking on cardholders and copying their cards using Glenn's magical data blackhole made the fourth season very interesting. However, when the team was struggling to find the location of the meeting by the cardholders, they got trapped in a data center in Florida.

Getting trapped in the room whose oxygen supply was being sucked out by the minute was all Michael's fault. Lincoln had to show up with an ax to become his little brother's angel one more time. Glenn was already passing out from suffocation and Michael was next.

6 Michael: Kidnapping The General

Breaking into General Krantz's super-secure room housing Scylla is one of the smartest tricks that Michael pulled off in the entire show. Theodore 'T-Bag' Bagwell and Morgan, on the other hand, had a super plan to snatch Scylla from the genius, and Scofield knew it.

He figured out that they would have to kidnap the general and have Sara threaten his daughter at gunpoint of they were going to leave The Loft alive. His quick thinking saved Lincoln from Bagwell and Morgan, who were waiting for them with machine guns at the other end of the tunnel.

5 Lincoln: Accepting The General's Deal

General Krantz is one of the best antagonists in the show's history and, of course, one of the least-liked by fans. You wouldn't expect him to be reasonable enough to save Scofield, for any reason, but he did.

Lincoln trusting the general with his brother's life, was also unexpected, but he did and saved his brother's life in the process. The delicate surgery was performed at the cost of Lincoln's loyal service to The Company, a decision that Michael didn't like either.

4 Michael: Making A Deal With Mahone

Christina Scofield's hatred for Lincoln was too extreme, even for the worst mother in the world. She was comfortable with killing him or trading him for anything that would secure her place as the new leader of The Company.

While in a tight spot of choosing whether to save Sara or his brother, Scofield still found a way to save Lincoln. His deal with Mahone would have allowed him to save Lincoln and get rid of his evil mother; If Christina hadn't survived the explosion, at least.

3 Lincoln: Opening Fire On ISIL In Sanaa

Yemen was chaotic, and the speed of events had outwitted even the great Michael Scofield. When all his plans blew up before him, Michael needed his brother more than ever before. Lincoln helped Sheba and her family secure a safe trip out of Sanaa and also get the Sheik of light to cut the power, although that backfired terribly.

After escaping Ogaygia prison during the stampede, Michael found himself trapped by ISIL and at the mercy of their psychopath leader whom he had just betrayed. Lincoln's Superman-style entry with a truck and a machine gun mounted made the difference between life and death.

2 Michael: Staying Behind To Face Cyclops

Remember that one-eyed Jihadist from the fifth season that just wouldn't let it go? He pursued the team into the desert with an AK47 and almost made it impossible for the group to reach the coast.

Scofield suggested casting lots using red rocks and a white one before switching a red rock for a white one, so he would face the ruthless terrorist rather than Lincoln. Scofield escaped narrowly. Lincoln's odds against Cyclops were obviously terrible.

1 Lincoln: Lighting The Fireworks In The Desert

Michael Scofield killed Cyclops alright, but not before losing all the fuel in his car, losing track of the rest of the group, and getting himself poisoned. With no compass nor direction to track him with, Lincoln and Scofield's former cellmates didn't have much to do but hope.

As always, Lincoln wasn't going to give up on his brother and quickly accepted the idea of lighting fireworks and shouting Michael's name into the desert. Michael managed to track the light and shouts and collapse closer to home.
