GTA Online Will Give Exclusive Content To PS5, Xbox Series X Players

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X editions of Grand Theft Auto Online will receive a selection of exclusive content when they launch next year. Grand Theft Auto V is already one of the most successful titles of all time. Although it originally released way back in 2013, it remains one of the popular games both in terms of sales and player numbers. The title has already been enhanced for current consoles, meaning it will be available across three generations when the new version becomes available.

The popularity of the game is largely the result of GTA Online. The multiplayer mode supports a wide range of game types and is still regularly updated by Rockstar. The vast majority of additions come in the form of extra items and vehicles, along with a selection of fresh game types. However, Rockstar also introduces completely new missions and locations every few months, ensuring there is plenty to do even for experienced players.

According to VG24/7, Rockstar is planning on including a selection of exclusive content for GTA Online when it launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The news comes from a Q&A session during a conference call from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. The executive confirmed that the content would only be available for the next-generation consoles and the PC edition of the game. However, he did not go into detail about exactly when the content would arrive or what would be included.

The future exclusive content is in addition to a number of technical and performance advancements that Rockstar has touted for the next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V. The studio announced that they were planning on releasing a new edition of the 7-year-old title in 2021 to take advantage of the improved hardware in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Although Take-Two and Rockstar have so far failed to release any information about what kind of exclusive content fans can expect from Grand Theft Auto Online, the news will still be welcomed by fans planning on upgrading to the next-generation consoles. The move also shows that both companies are committed to the upcoming platforms and want to provide a good incentive for players to purchase Grand Theft Auto V for a second or third time. However, it does suggest that a proper sequel is still some time away, so fans should not get too excited about Grand Theft Auto 6 just yet.
