All Together Now Trailer: Moana Star Follows Her Dreams In Netflix Movie

The trailer and poster for the upcoming Netflix original movie called All Together Now have been released. The film stars Auli’i Cravalho (Moana) and follows Cravalho's character Amber Appleton, a musically gifted high school student with dreams of attending Carnegie Mellon University. Amber must balance school with her drama club, her job at a donut shop, her time volunteering at the local retirement community, along with her relationship with her down-on-her-luck single mother. Amber will learn to rely on her friends and mentors to move forward and achieve her dreams when new obstacles present themselves and get in the way of her goals. All Together Now is based on the novel Sorta Like a Rock Star by Matthew Quick. Quick is known for writing the book, The Silver Linings Playbook.

Netflix has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming movie on YouTube, as well as a promotional poster. The trailer introduces the optimistic protagonist and the complicated elements of her life that she is doing her best to balance. She is supported by her high school drama club teacher, Mr. Franks (Fred Armisen), her favorite resident at the local retirement center, played by Carol Burnett, and her friends. The poster shows Amber and her supportive group of friends and classmates together, happy and hopeful.

The upcoming film co-stars Rhenzy Feliz, Judy Reyes, Taylor Richardson, C.S. Lee, Anthony Jacques Jr., and Gerald Isaac Waters. Justina Machado portrays Amber's single mother. The film is directed by Brett Haley, who also directed Netflix's All The Bright Places. Haley also co-wrote the adapted screenplay along with Marx Basch and Matthew Quick. It is produced by Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Lee Stollman, Marty Bowen, and Isaac Klausner.

All Together Now is the latest in a line of new Netflix content being released in a year when so many productions, shows, and films have been put on pause. Because it is a story about finding hope even throughout the darkest times, 2020 seems like the perfect time for this film. It starts streaming on Netflix on August 28.
