Far Cry 6 Collector's Edition Comes With a Flamethrower Display Model

Like many Ubisoft games before it, Far Cry 6 has a crazy collector's edition, and this one features a flamethrower. The newest entry in the publisher's series of tropical murder vacations, Far Cry 6 stunned many in its official reveal capping off today's Ubisoft Forward digital event. The game, which takes place in an island nation that's definitely not Cuba, casts players as Dani Rojas, a customizable revolutionary pitted against Giancarlo Esposito's dictator character, named Anton Castillo. As seen in the teaser trailer, Anton is just starting to train his son Diego for his eventual overtaking of the family business, although Dani might have something to say about that.

Back in the real world, players who choose to purchase Far Cry 6 at the highest teacher will be continuing on in the tradition of many Far Cry collector's editions of years past. The last major entry in the franchise, Far Cry 5, featured several big-ticket versions. These included a statute of Joseph Seed in the Father Edition and a fully mounted deer's skull in its Collector's EditionFar Cry 4 also featured a statue of villain Pagan Min in its collector's edition, meaning that Anton might get a plastic figure all his own by the time the game comes out.

However, the big news today is the flamethrower display model that comes in the Far Cry 6 collector's edition. As noted both on Ubisoft's store page for the $200 box and in promotional images, the flamethrower is a nonfunctional replica of the Tostador weapon assumedly seen in-game. The edition also comes with assembly instructions, a Steelbook case for the game, a soundtrack CD, a map of Far Cry 6's tropical locale, an artbook, ten stickers, and a keychain of Chorizo, a handicapped dog that is one of Dani's companions in the game. On top of all that, it includes the game on one of several platforms, meaning players can get their hands on a functional flamethrower in the digital world.

As far as digital goods, both the Collector's Edition and the slightly less expensive Gold and Ultimate Editions come with two bits of pre-order addons if you purchase the game before it's debut in February of 2021. If you want to secure a spiked wheelchair for Chorizo or a Discos Locos disc launcher that recalls the signature weapon of Far Cry: New Dawn, you'll want to put down your money early. Of course, there's still a few months left for Ubisoft to release a gameplay trailer in case you think they'll change up the Far Cry formula this time around.

When first seeing Far Cry 6's Collector's Edition flamethrower replica, one might assume that it was actually functional in some capacity. Games have given us working night vision goggles, RC cars, and cat helmets in the past, so perhaps a partnership with Nerf isn't out of the question. Still, for someone who enjoys bringing a piece of the worlds they spend hours exploring into their home, this may just be the wildly expensive box to look out for.
