Dead To Me is full of lies, murder, shocking plot twists and great characters that the audience can fall in love with super quickly. Jen is a complex character who has her ups and downs and delivers many of the fantastic lines that will go down in history for being both hilarious and relatable in a show that is about grief and lots of murder.
Most of Jen's best lines come from when she truly embraces her grief, and everyone can find something in her to relate to in these times. Often the darkest moments bring some of the funniest quotes. Here are 10 quotes that prove Jen is the funniest character of the show.
10 "Grief Does Some Weird S*** To People"
Dead To Me focuses a lot on grief, and how different people deal with it in different ways. Jen struggles with grief, specifically in the first season of the show, and she deals with it in some interesting ways.
From listening to heavy metal to help her relax to going on retreats with her support group, Jen copes with her grief in her own way. She states in this very relatable quote that grief does some weird stuff to people, and she's extremely right.
9 "Don't Ever Tell A Woman She Is Overreacting"
Jen is the queen of relatable and funny quotes, and this is one of her truest.
She says that women mostly under-react, which is why you should never tell them to overreact. It's a funny line that is also so true and shows the audience why she is the best.
8 "You Tend To Get A Little Confessy"
Jen gets frustrated with Judy quite often, mainly because when she's overwhelmed and feels guilty she tends to spew the truth in the worst possible moment, which is not ideal when she killed Jen's husband and Jen killed her fiancé.
She delivers this quote when Judy is so stressed out she ends up at a police station telling Perez every bad thing she's done that day.
7 "Be Cool, Karen"
Jen has an on and off friendship with her neighbor, Karen, who she doesn't really want to be friends with. The two sometimes hang out with a bottle of wine and have some very awkward conversations.
At one point, when Jen asks if she wants a drink and Karen says it's 11 in the morning, she tells her to be cool.
6 "I Was Trying A Thing"
When a bird repeatedly flies into Henry's room, he starts to think that it's his Dad visiting him from the dead. It becomes a symbol of sorts in the family, and Judy even gives Henry a wooden version of the bird for him to keep with him at all times.
She doesn't believe that the bird could be a sign from the dead, but she still tries to have a heart to heart with it and it flies away, so she has some choice words for it.
5 "Sure, When I Die"
When Jen's colleague and friend Chris tells her how talented her son Henry is, he mentioned that he should join the church's dance group, The Holy Harmonies.
It sounds like a great idea, and it does eventually happen, but Jen isn't too fond of the idea. Instead of being enthusiastic about it, she tells him that it's a great idea, but only when she's dead.
4 "Don't Go On The Google"
This quote happens when Jen and Judy are struggling with what to do with Steve's body, which is hidden in a cooler that is becoming harder to keep secret.
Naturally, the first thing that Judy does is head to Google to get some ideas, which prompts Jen to tell her to not go onto "the Google."
3 "I Meditate In My Own Way"
Judy and Jen try to find ways to cope with their issues and grief, and one of Jen's methods is to listen to heavy metal music in her car to calm herself.
It's hilarious to watch at first, but it becomes a part of her personality throughout the show. Once the audience sees her character grow, they understand why it makes sense for her to meditate to heavy metal.
2 "You Know What I Also Like? I Like A Margarita By The Pool In A Plastic Cup"
Once again, Jen delivers a relatable line, with this quote from when she and Judy go on a retreat with their grief support group and attempt to stay as far away from all the activities that are going on around them.
Jen is more interested in staying by the pool and drinking a margarita, even though it's still early in the morning.
1 "Well, It's Like If Jeff Got Hit By A Car And Died, Suddenly And Violently, It's Like That"
At the very beginning of season one, it's clear that Jen is an amazing character. She deals with a lot throughout the season and sometimes not in the best ways, and is known for having a temper and being prickly, which is basically the opposite of Judy.
When Karen tells her she can't imagine what it's like, Jen bluntly replies with one of the best quotes of the show.
