Viewers of Below Deck Mediterranean are wondering if Captain Sandy will have to let Chef Kiko go. The captain is not putting up with poor service for much longer and Kiko may get the ax.
Bravo's maritime-themed show follows extremely rich yachting personalities and the Below Deck Mediterranean crew. Guests and crew explore the Mediterranean Sea with stops in Spain and Greece. The film crew gets up close and personal while drama surges below deck, thanks to the boat crew and their inability to kiss and not tell. As the 150-foot yacht island-hops throughout the season, each episode features a different group of guests. Some are easy-going, while others are high maintenance. Viewers watch the crew run around, trying to make five-star meals and turndown service look easy.
Fans instantly have fallen in love with Chef Kiko, as he has undeniable culinary artistry and more than ten years of experience in the industry. He introduced himself to fans as a “rustic chef” who was born in Brazil. While traveling the world, he enhanced his cooking skills and even published a cookbook in 2016. But on the July 20 episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, Kiko was struggling with his service. Only a week prior, he served a 72-plate meal spectacularly. But these Miami-based guests expected another level of service. Plus, one was vegan. Yikes!
Captain Sandy has also been buzzing in and out of the kitchen trying to micromanage Kiko. The galley isn't big enough for both Sandy and Kiko, and the captain’s persistence seems to be knocking Kiko’s confidence to a very low level. Captain Sandy wants to be included in every step, but the chef has no time for that kind of nonsense. The last episode showed the two butting heads, with Captain Sandy asking that he improves his menu or she will have to let him go. During the Bravo Aftershow, however, Andy Cohen asked outright if Kiko was fired after a picture circulated online showing the Brazilian chef leaving the show. Kiko grinned and coyly answered that he had never been fired, but left a vessel because the captain "micromanaged" too much.
Shots have been fired and fans are preparing themselves for Kiko and chief stew Hanna Ferrier to walk the plank. The season hasn't been easy for the crew and many are struggling to bond. Fans are keeping their fingers crossed that Captain Sandy can rally her troops back from the brink of destruction and finish the boating season out strong.
Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 pm EST on Bravo.
